Saw a youtube video where some guy swore that using an impact driver (drill) was his go-to tool for removing stubborn mower blades etc on his lawn mowers. I'd imagine most of you guys use air tools to do the same thing, but for convenience does anyone here use an impact driver/wrench and if so what brand?

Tiger you are right, I use air rattle gun, but I am hoping tomorrow my Milwaukee HD 18 HIW 1/2" High Torque Impact Wrench turns up, I used to borrow one the same off a mate of mine when all else failed, they will crank up to 450 ft/lb, unbelevable for a battery tool, and yes I will be using it instead of air once it arrives, just more convenient, use it anyware. just my 2c worth.

In the workshop we use a lot of cordless tools. The only real air tools we use is the air blower and the tyre inflator. We all have 18v Makita products. I bought mine not long after I started my traineeship and I have had zero problems, that is using it everyday. The main things I use are the impact driver, which I have an attachment for sockets (great for zipping off anything, engine cowls, carby screws etc), The smaller Impact wrench, used for push mower blades and small ride ons. Then the lager style impact wrench for big ride ons and zero turns.
Also have other things too, torch, cordless hammer drill, angle grinder. These 18v Makita products are great and save me a lot of time. With no air line needed you can take them anywhere which is great.

Jonesy 450 ft/lb? That would take anything off. James, I've got some cordless tools too but in the Ryobi brand, they won't be as good as your Makita but agree that for convenience, can't be beat.

Tiger, I was a builder for 22 years and have a shed full of Makita tools and swear by them, but the Milwaukee stuff is getting top of the range now and nothing in its class comes close to the impact drivers, as I use this stuff from Mowers, cars,ATV's,even my truck there was no other choice to be made by me anyway. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2013/08/full-6801-12081-img_0987web.jpg) Turned up this morning

Jonesy, I have to agree with you. The Milwaukee products are really starting to impress me. They were only starting to take off when I started my traineeship. That's why I decided to go with Makita. The product that I have actually seen used in front of me is this product here. I had only seen this ratchet on Youtube but actually seeing it being used in front of me was just another thing. The only thing I dislike about Makita is that they are really slow to release new products. The other competition (Hatachi, Milwaukee) on the other hand, are really quick to release new products, such as this cordless ratchet. I don't know how long it will take for Makita to release something like this.

That Milwaukee stuff looks powerful, I'll have to sell a few mowers though to be able to afford it, but one day...;)

g'day most of the auto wreckers i know use milwaukee cordless rattle guns, they cop a flogging and get abused and still go strong. Having said that they are the older milwaukee's that are made in america, i don't think the new ones are made in america anymore? cheers

Coming from you jonesy no that's not strange but from anybody else I'd be asking questions. I have a question and I'll make sure I'm sitting when I read it.How much are they worth? As I would love to get hold of one myself. When I was working at a wreckers we had one there. It was a kincrome branded one.It was totally awesome.
