Hi all i was given a powerbase generator on the weekend with a botched carby job i guess the motor is a chonda but horsepower unknown the carby has been butchered so need to replace anyone know who makes this motor the carby has the name fujian and fulin stamped on it and a large capital A any help be much appreciated cheers

I don't think we can help without much better identification of the machine. Some pictures would be a start, ensuring they include the various identification decals.

To give you an idea of the issue, there has been a little 800 Watt 2 stroke generator sold by Bunnings under the GMC Powerbase name, and you might have one of those. If so, I don't think there is much chance of getting parts for it through normal trade channels, except perhaps the GMC importer. Fujian Fulin is a Chinese brand of chainsaw carburetor. See if you can find the model number on it such as HUS followed by a three digit number. Even if you can find the carburetor model number, it may be a challenge to buy a replacement here.

I think that is just a serial number, probably created by the importer.

The thing we need to work out is whether this is actually a GMC Powerbase 800 Watt 2 stroke generator. Those things were sold by Bunnings several years ago for $145, and I'd estimate the value of one now, in good running order, would be about $50. You have said it is a 1200 Watt model. If so I have no idea what it is. We can't get far without both of us knowing what you're talking about.

The amount you can afford to pay for spare parts for it is very small if you are talking about an 800 Watt 2 stroke throw-away generator. I can't imagine you can replace the carburetor with a new one for less than $50, and it would probably be more. Hence if the body of the carburetor is damaged, you seem to be stuck with either cobbling it into working condition, or fitting some other second hand chainsaw carburetor to it. If the problem is not the carburetor body, but just a bit of mangling of linkages, the affordable solution would be to unmangle them.

At this point you haven't told us or shown us what you have or what is wrong with it. We can't really help until we see pictures of the machine, and pictures of the damage.
