Hi All. This is my 2nd attempt... First attempt got deleted when I neglected to fill in the subject line....
Anyway I will be brief, becasue if I type more than a few lines, the frame scrolls up then back down, so I cant see what I have typed..
I have two Victa Twins. One i ratted parts from to fix another I bought off ebay.
It goes, very well, when I get it started. It cuts grass VERY well, and fast. Much faster than my 30 year old Jetfast (B&S motor).
I cant figure out what carby it has. Square profile main jet with no tube. Only one (long) diaphragm spring. Black primer bulb, no idle speed screw. Removable black cap instead.
Oh, and if anyone has a catcher.....

The carby sounds like a G4 or LM, both are interchangeable in their entirety but parts are not interchangeable between the two except for jets and primer faces.
If it only has the one long spring between the cap and the diaphragm then it will probably rev its ring off and the thottle will have little or no effect on engine speed. It sounds to me like its missing the 2nd shorter spring which goes on the other side of the diaphragm between it and the cam. If both springs are present then either the rubber diaphragm is not seated correctly, thus causing it to over rev due to the lack of vacuum or the vacuum hose going from the cap to the cowl is blocked or disconnected.
Make these simple checks and then we can begin to eliminate possible causes and troubleshoot as necessary.
The twins normally run the idle screw on the carb but this was dropped by victa on all their models some years later as it was more a gimmick than it was effective. People would turn them right down for a low idle and would ultimately cause premature plug failure and excess deposits in the head and exhaust. At the end of the day 2 strokes are made to work and not to be idled as it doesnt allow for the burning off of the oil in the fuel.
As for the catcher, good luck trying to source a decent one, but you never know, someone here may have one they're prepared to part with.

It does sound like its running the LM carby. Thats great if its running well as the twin did run a G4,but thay also ran a jet that was unguie to them as they are a 170cc so its good that it running well. Not sure what Bigted is saying as you said it's running well,or maybe I missed something. I must asked which model do you have as there were 4 of them. Orange series 1,orange series 2. Green twin or a gold. The gold one came out around the time of the LM carby so I think they came out with both carbys. Don't quote me on that I'm not 100 percent sure on that. Put some pictures if you can I'd like to see them. Yes they are great when running well. Good luck with the catcher, catchers can be worth more than the mower. Especially for a good one. Sorry I don't have a spare one.

Here for a good time, not a long time.
