Hi Dgreig, and a warm welcome to the forum. It's always nice to have another Scott Bonnar model 45 owner on board. grin
My advice would be to contact your local Bowling Club and speak to the greenskeeper and ask the name of the engineer/machinist who looks after their reels and bedknives. They are usually a friendly bunch of guys and will help you. wink
Your local mower shop can arrange to get it done, but they usually like to do the remove and replace themselves and charge you for that service....plus they have to send your reel to the engineer anyway. It is much better to remove them both yourself.
Check out these posts....Click HERE and this one might be of interest as well...Click HERE
Hoping that helps mate, and, once again, :welcome:
to OutdoorKing.

hey Dgreig,
I got mine sharpened at northern sharpening in coburg, they had some idea what they were doing or at least bluffed there way through, and they only charged 55$

Hi Dunks03, you are talking precise tolerances here....at $375 for a new 6 blade reel and $42 for a new bedknife blade if they stuff up the job...you need a machinist/engineer that knows what they are doing. I, for one, would not allow anyone to "bluff there way through" with any parts on my machine. wink
$55.00 seems very cheap for the job (if done properly).

Hey Deejay,
I really struggled to find someone that would sharpen it.
I'm probably being a little harsh on them, he just thought I had one of the hand push cylinder mowers, and their blades apparently touch to cut the grass. I explained to him that on our mowers the 2 blades go extremely close but don't touch.
It was just the guy at the front that I was talking with, sort of the receptionist. There was lots of other guys and machines out the back.
I'm pretty sure he said the cylinder was going onto a lathe type machine.
They came back to me as far as I could tell in the right condition, after a bit of playing around I was able to get pretty close to a consistent minute gap all the way across.
But other than to drive an hour and half to the only other place I found that could do it and pay 5 times the price I couldn't find another option.
