Hi All,

I'm in need of a new governor spring for a Rover Quantum 50 and I'm not quite sure which is the correct one to order. Any help would be appreciated.

There are two or three different Quantum 50s, and there may have been running changes in each of them. If you post the long string of numbers on your engine (marked as "Model", "Type" and "Code", and probably on the cowling somewhere) we will know exactly which variant it is, and we can try to find the illustrated parts list for the right one. A picture of the engine would also help.

Thanks grumpy, the only identification I could find was a label that reads: Family YBSXS.1901VC 274466.

Thanks grumpy, after seeing the video and then digging through some caked on dust I found the stamped info as follows:

Model 12F802
Type 1975-E1
Code 01010459

That engine was made on 4 January 2001. Here is an illustrated parts list:

As I read it, Item 1387 is the governor spring and the Briggs part number is 790849. However this is dependent on your reading of the dirtied-up numbers being correct, the parts list being correct, etc etc. However the 790849 is available from:

I can't find it in the Outdoorking store, but I'm no expert in searching there. If you send a Private Message to Bruce, he will tell you the correct answers, including whether it is the right part and whether he can supply it.

Just about any US Briggs dealer will have it, but the shipping cost might be horrendous.
