I've been looking around the forums to try and find where best to post re: help identifying this thing.. I did a search and trawled through 8 pages of stuff with no luck..

I had a quick look and couldn't find any identification numbers on the motor, didn't pull any covers off though so I'm guessing they are hidden somewhere?

Whats the best sub to post? the questions on B&S engines? I there a way to tell from the SB model/ID pictured?

I'm wondering a few things, year of manufacture would be awesome to know, can you tell if it's the original engine? I'm guessing a few parts may have been replaced - black starter/air cleaner (they were orange from factory no?)

I'm hoping to also find a repair/workshop manual for this thing, don't mind purchasing one just want to make sure I'm getting the right one

Greenslopes cool not that far. You should start a new topic about identifying this mower. I will then upload some pictures of my old one. It may have been used but at least it looked like it should have. Just have a look in list of topics you will be able to work out which one it should be in.

Ahh good you found the numbers on the cowl:) heres some pics of mine,maybee help to compare. I think mine is mostly original other than the throttle control. Im sure you may be able to Get/purchase access to the manuals area for the Briggs engines The moderators will guide you. Getting an SB Mower manual might be a time thing,im sure Scientific did one,but another memeber may have one also Good luck with you little toy

Hi Ed your throttle is correct the one on Blues is not the right one.Here is a couple of pictures of the ones I had.

The one on the left has the correct air cleaner.

So here comes the fun part... any tips on where I can find the correct air cleaner assembly?

Well actually I had the same problem when I got this one it didn't have the correct one either.I was lucky enough to find another mower with a trashed base and pinched it from that.Scott Bonnar's weren't the only mowers to use that air cleaner,so you will just have to keep your eye open.Maybe check the local tip shops.

Any chance you could throw a tape measure across it at some stage and post the dimensions (Height, Diameter)? I'm purely working from pictures, makes it a bit difficult..

Sorry man but I no longer have this mower.Due to when we moved from Canberra to Brisbane I had well over 100 mowers and I just couldn't take them all.Unfortunately the 2 model 520's and 2 720's had to go I just didn't have the room on the truck.It didn't make me happy,but it had to be done.The collector that had them also had to move and I think he has sold them off as well.So sorry I can't help with that.I wish I could as I would have loved to have kept them.I just had to reduce my numbers.
