I have a victa power torque. That has good spark, is getting fuel and it goes to fire up but chokes an then smoke puffs out the decompresser. What could this be? :-)

Have you tried changing out the decompressor yet as you said it could be leaking?

honestly ive come across this before,
could be crank case compression

most times ive had these symptoms its been worn out rings.

When u have had these symptoms have u been able to get the mower fired up again?

An I will try another decompresser when I get another one :-)

No not before giving it a hone and new rings, not much to the power torques,
you may as well pull it down and check it out, you should only need a set of rings, a top o-ring, and a head gasget.

does it fire like its going to run or just sort of pop and nothing?

block your decomp hole with an old spark plug and turn it over there should be 2 distinct resistances crank case comp and cylinder compression. even try and start it it if you want.
if it doesnt run you can rule out your decompressor

It pretty much just pops n smoke puffs out the decomp. So take the decomp off n plug up hole n try start it ?

Yeah,
That sounds like the decomp valve isn't closing for some reason, I'd say block it off with an old spark plug...

But be sure to block off the air line leading to the carby too, Otherwise there will be air leaks and stuff.
