Afternoon all, i am having one hell of a afternoon. I have got a Stihl FS45 Trimmer. The machine is producing a very small spark, so obvious thing to do was disconnect stop wires and try again, still bugger all spark.

Okay so at this point i would think 99% of people go with Ahh okay the coils buggered. So i get a new coil fit it and still have bugger all spark, stripped it down again disconnecting stop wires from the coil itself and still nothing. I have tried using various gaps between coil and flywheel. My general measure is a NGK spark plug box.

So now i am out of ideas, i have heard but did not believe a flywheel could lose magnetism is this true?

Does any one else have any other ideas as to what could be going on.

I would approach it like this:
Step 1: check spark directly from plug lead to ground (no spark plug or test box). If that is weak too, proceed to the next step.
Step 2: check the ignition module's ground connection. Does it ground directly to the crankcase? If not, there may be a problem in the indirect grounding path. Are both module and crankcase clean where the module attaches?
Step 3: disconnect the kill wire at the module. You've said you've already done that.
Step 4: check the flywheel magnet's magnetic strength with a piece of mild steel. I don't think it's likely to lose magnetism under normal conditions, but the magnet could be broken or have moved out of position.
