Hi guys - first time on this forum. I have a Victa 80 TAC (excellent machine) that starts first or second pull every time.. BUT the carbie has leaked all the fuel out of it and now for the life of me I can't start it!!

This happens only when I forget to turn off the fuel tank valve after using (and the carbie drains out). When I do turn off the (red) valve and go to start next time - always starts .. any suggestions? the unit has been serviced only last year. Thanks in advance.

Hi RobF, and a warm welcome to the forum. As a '80 Series Victa TAC owner myself, I know that they are an excellent machine, mate! grin
Never having this prob of yours, I can't help with a diagnosis, but I can tell you that it is a Model G4 carburettor assembly (Part No: CH03499A).

We are extremely lucky here at OutdoorKing to have many Victa aficionados and our Victa carby guru is Joe Carrol. wink
Someone will put you on the right track, Rob.
Once again, :welcome:

Unfortunately the needle valve in the victa carb never seals perfectly and does have a tendancy to flood when left turned on.

Anyway, to make sure this is as minimal as possible I suggest replacing the primer cap and needle with GENUINE items, there are aftermarket ones but they are rubbish and flood the engine very quickly.

To clear the excess fuel at present, remove the spark plug, set the throttle to run and pull the cord a dozen times or so, dry the spark plug and attempt to start it, depending on how badly flooded it is you may need to repeat this a few times.
