If you disconnect the wire at the carby and it still has no spark, you will need to remove the flywheel and clean/replace the points

That would be the wire, once the flywheel is off its pretty straightforward, I use a puller on the flywheels, however other members have done it without.

If it hasnt had water in the starter cup the flywheel should come off fairly easy.

Nah, pull it appart and look first.
They might just need to be cleaned.
Thats a olden days thing. Any bloke mid 40's or older would be very well versed in cleaning points. Mid 40's to down under my age and its a dying art. Those who did do it didnt do it for enough years and have forgotten. Or got wind of the newer fangdangled electronic ignition and bought a commodore distributor to put in the old HQ so I never had to touch the points again.
Them old folks were onto something. Go chase one up that has a 'points file' in his tool box. He will be able to sort you out with a demo. Nah just joking, Im sure you will sort it out.
They could be tarnished or stuck. They might be stuffed too, but you might be able to save them.
