Don't feel bad these things happen.I also hope it's not broken but I'll be surprised if it's not it was one hell of a hit.The bolt that my thumb hit torn off the outer casing from the top part of the crankcase where the bolt goes through,and that was a direct hit on my thumb.So I dare say (but hope not) that it could be.Any way don't forget to have fun while doing the restore after all that why we do it.I'm a bit jealous really yours will be done before mine is.

It's his own fault, he was using a left handed hammer in his right!

maybe not ! smacked my hand up too today so maybe we both take it slower now hahaha , damn new rattle gun's . but dropped the gear off to a mates to be welded up at least said it shouldnt take long and i think i found some wheels in a pile i forgot i had and 2 more on the front of a 550 !! so still going ok just a lot slower now . thanks again guys

OK fantastic news my thumb is not broken.[Censored] happy about that.So just wait for it to get a little better and then back to pulling this engine apart again.

great news ! mine made me have a day off , cant use tools ! but i can at home though almost have the engine apart and looks good apart from the damaged crank and bottom seal was almost out . another question if i may , did this have a handle badge ? it has the place for one but not sure . thanks Dave

think i found a good match fot the handle colour ? as it is now , a solid lighter green than other parts of the machine except the relay rod between the axles is same as handles !

white knight mist green solid green . any idea's ? Dave

Usually the best spot is under the handle brackets on the bottom part of the handle,but it looks like you have found a good piece there.Really it comes down to what you defy as the best colour.That's how I have been colour matching.After all if you are happy with it then that's the biggest battle there.

Hi Dave no they didn't have handle badges for these guys.The last badges were done on the Sheerline's.They just used the same moulds to make the same brackets.They are the same as the Sheerline's which is different from the earlier Model 5's,but that's something for later.

thanks again for that . was just wondering is all as it has the same gap for one . that is the bottom handle and its a real close match , strange having i think 3 colours ? base handles and cowl all different or is just this one ! been painted a few times by the look of it but under stickers n handles is best place to find and so far three ! thumb ok ? hand is slowly getting smaller here hahaha . cheers

The colour should be the same.You'll find that over time the paint fades and different metals fade to different colours.So I would just find a colour that's close and that your happy with and paint it that colour.Also my thumb also is getting better and smaller.Starting to be able to use it more each day.

pulled it right down the other day , wow it stunk of something ! and black as inside too but allgood . smelled like bad fuel but different dont know what it is and never want it again ! all standard in there a few minor scores but nothing to worry it i hope . these didnt have some sort of points cover did they ? found an old clip in the casing fell into the crud below . coming along ok , just still one n a half hands . fixed a couple and get the cook to start for me cheers Dave

No they didn't have any cover for the points,just the flywheel.OK thumb starting to get better so when I get home from work tomorrow it will be game on.Part 2 of removing crank for you.Although this time there will be no smacking of thumbs.

I sure can,It may come with the conrod on it as most of my tools for that are in storage and don't know where it is.The conrod is bent and will need changing.

looks like i will have to learn how to do that too this one is good still, just have to study the book to see how they come apart . need a press i guess ? never split a crank on one before

well now i know 160 and 125 cranks are different at least the sidepull ones are , bigger seals , wrong length , all sorts of things but aaaah well learning all the time i guess , great guy where i get a lot of bits from gave me an engine too see how close they come conrod's the same length tho but differnt bush's old one's a brass bush small end , didnt notice before . but time i do have plenty of . cheers Dave

OK spent some time on the weekend pulling that engine apart.Sorry to to say but the crank is not in a usable condition.It was very rusty and it did appear to have a slight bend in it.I could also see some uneven wear on the bottom seal,which would support my theory.It's not all bad though,Ty said he has a crank here that you can use.I'm just not sure when he could do it for you.I was hoping that one would work as it was a very similar model.Sorry man but I did try,got a sore thumb out of it though.

Hi Jeffery....well mate, that really is a case of bad luck....you do your best for a good outcome and then find the engine ruined! Sorry to hear that mate....Hope you thumb is better.
How is the 'big move' going...are you all packed up as yet?

I'll ask Ty when I see him tonight and see if he knows where the engine he was talking about.It may not be over yet.Lets just see what he can dig up.Yes I know moving is a real sh*t (whooppss I hope that's alright) even worse when it's a long way away.
