Hi guys picked up this fine example of a Monaro for Joe today.I'm sure he will be happy with it.The only thing I could find on the base was one small crack. Here Joe I hope you don't mind. Here's some pictures for you.

You can just faintly see the crack here in this picture.I do feel that with a really good scrub it would almost be better than the first one you got. It's kind of making me want one now.

Would i be right in questioning if that mowers not a tennants improvement.

Looks to me like somebody may have put that motor on that base.

The sticker on the base has a sort of 80's scrpit like the higharch.
The sticker on the front of the engine/tank cover looks older.

With that on the front of the engine cover it would suggest to me that the blade disc should be the one with the over and under blades or similar. But if im right that is the earliest type disc for the newer blades.

Cheers Jeff, it will come up a treat with some cleaning and a paint job. That engine is original to it, it is the same as one of my others (apart from the actual colour of the decals) which runs really well, actually have a video of it on the pc somewhere I will upload sooner or later....

Don't know Bob can't help you with that I don't know enough about these one's.I am sure that with a [Censored] good scrub it will come up looking almost like new. It's just covered in a lot of crap.

Fair enough.

Would be interested to hear what year the engine number makes it.

Reason i asked was because ive had a few here with that colour gold base. I thought that they were real late 70's - 80's models. The more i look at it the more the 'series seventy 160" doesnt look as old school as i thought it was.

This particular base cast was used on low arch store brands of many, many types right throughout the 70's and early 80's, it was also used on a few late 70's victa low arch's like the low arch version of the victa commodore.

You will find this base in a variety of colours, with a number of different engines, made across a wide range of years for many different department stores, as well as victa themselves.

Cheers
Ty

I got this jigger running the other day, damn it was one tight engine, rewound the starter with new rope, cleaned the spark plug fresh fuel, and a dozen or so pulls.

unfortunately it needs a new head, a previous owner has cross threaded it badly, but this one will be scoring a powerplus head, and some other ideas that rattled in my head over a few ales.

It did clean up quite well, a lot of paint is missing but the deck is pretty good.
