Hi Guys,

I have had this Scott Bonnar for a while now and its basically taking up room in my garage. I was thinking of selling it but i would rather it go to someone here who might restore it.

The mower starts and runs well, i have placed a new carby kit through it and changed the oil as well as the air filters.

The person before me placed a brand new clutch pad so the clutch needs a bit of adjusting (unscrewing the clutch pin and moving the clutch to the right) as it is currently engaged at high revs, but that would be its only flaw in terms of mechanics (which is easily fixed). The blades aren't in great shape but they do cut as is atm and the catcher is not original but its heavy duty! (thick plate steel).

With that in mind, i trying to fix a Victa gear start edger which has a sheared flywheel and crankshaft (well the key connecting to the flywheel anyway). And im trying to rebuild a honda GXV120 engine so im looking for either of those parts in exchange (the gxv120 engine or the gear start flywheel and crankshaft in good condition).

I am located in Liverpool, Sydney [Linked Image]

Its a damn shame I gave away my gear start tilt-a-cut otherwise I would have given you the whole thing and paid for a courier. One day I will finally land myself a 45 smile

Joe,

You have helped me out before with parts so if your willing to arrange for a courier its yours (with the proviso thet if you do find an tiltacut edger or a gxv120 in the near future i can have it). Also, im pretty sure that the crankshaft and flywheel for the edger is interchangeable with normal gear starts so if you have those parts in a gear start mower it should do (i hope).

smile

Ok cheers, just woke up from an extended afternoon nap, I have a gut feeling the gear start tilt a cut shared the same steel banded flywheel as all the other victa edgers, I can send a complete mower engine, I'll also double check at the farm I know we have some gxv160's not sure about a 120

Also just quickly done a online quote for a courier and it might be prohibitately expensive unless I can fun a cheaper one, one quote was over $470!!! eek

Hi Joe, there must be a cheaper option than that...maybe a back-load for one of the trucking firms....or maybe rail..... even to Wagga and you could bring your trailer over. It is too good to miss out on Joe. wink
I'll have the thinking cap on....
cheers2

Ty!

not the trailer debacle again! Looking for bearings at 5am after spending all night waiting.. laugh

also Joe, i dont mind if you want to swap for a gxv160, it does need to be a self propelled one though, ill even throw some money your way if you want.

Let me know what you want to do mate, the mower is basically yours though.

Argh, I shouldn't post while half asleep, I misread it and typed it wrong, on the farm I have a GX160 or 3, they are a horizontal shaft motor never mind lol

Anyway I will try and chase up the gear start tilt-a-cut motor, otherwise I could disassemble and post a powertorque tilt-a-cut, from memory it just needs a cleanup and service, the paint is immaculate on it , etc but its hard to sell an edger out here in the farming community.

Mate, if my services are needed, it will be MY trailer this time!!!

Cheers

no problems Joe,

EIther the motor or the powertorque tiltacut would both be fine (they will both get the job done on starting a new edger :D).

Let me know when you decide which route to go, ill have the mower around waiting for you in either case.

No dramas I will happily take the scotty,

I will try to score the gear start parts over the next week or so but if that fails I will pull apart the p/t tilt a cut enough to put into two parcels and can easily ship them.

Sounds great.

How are we going to get the scotty over to you? how much would shipping end up costing anyways? (will be cheaper than fuel to yass and back?) maybe we can meet somewhere half way and save us some money?

Meeting at yass could work out well, thats only about 3 hours from me and I could pick Darryl up for a joyride as well...

I will put up a couple of pics of my spare tilt a cut in here to see if you like it or not tomorrow when she isnt so dark outside smile

i like the look of it laugh

Thanks for that Joe.

In terms of timing, it might either need to be fairly soon(early sept) or fairly late (mid october onwards)

Well this weekend and next is out for me, but the following one is good for me, and it also gives me a chance to get it fully up and running for you, not that it needs much just a general checkover, and quick service as I used it at the start of the year.
