Generally when the balls fall out then they are pretty much ratsh#t and should really be thrown out.I would have some here if you need one or two.

Here for a good time, not a long time.

They are not that expensive from a mower shop, take a sample with you.

Ive put them back together before, some types the 'cage' spreads, if you put a little grease on the race and put the balls back in then clip the other side back in you can have a win.

Not sure how many balls. You can work out if you have enough by sitting them back in.

Go with bumbly's recommendation on this one, once the ball bearings fall out the wheels are trashed.....

Actually Kori, The wheels are fine, it's the bearings that are buggered at that point, a small, cheap, and easily replaceable part.

Perhaps questions like this are best answered by thise who have actually seen a Victa VC-160 wheel, or at least a Victa.

Cheers

WOW! The bearings are replaceable??

That's awesome!

The ball bearing wheels I've seen were sealed bearings....

Yeah I shouldn't be talking where I know nothing about...
I just want to be helpful...

That's all good and well mate, and I'm sure you can provide information on briggs and techumseh engines, however here is an example where somone may have been mislead to throw out perfectly good wheels.

It's all a matter of picking your targets carefully.

We are getting a little of track here, for the VC-160 I think your looking for tab bearings, now I'm not sure if these are in production, however new victa bearings of the same size, but without the two locking tabs will fit in comfortably mate.

UPDATE:

I stand corected, here's an ebay listing for tab type bearings, check your bearings to make sure there a match before you go in, if there not, theres also the non tab case ones, but again, check your dimensions just to be on the safe side.

TAB BEARINGS and Metal Round Bearing

I have a part number here for a bearing race like in the online store for a plain bearing available at any bearing shop, heaven knows where I have put the number, but they are a perfect fit on anything I have used them on and far superior to any other wheel bearing.

I thought my idea about throwing the bearings out and getting new ones was the best idea. Not the wheels.

They both clip into the wheels, 70's models just had the 2 tabs on the bearing to hold them in palce, however it was later realised this was unecissary, so they were removed.

You can place either into the older tab wheels, however you cannot place the tab bearings into modern wheels, as they lack the slots to accomodat the tabs.
