Thanks for that, I'll keep it in mind when I'm out hunting!

hi, i'll try and grab some more piccies tomorrow of what i think i might call "frankenmower". the chain running over the nylon idler has been done incredibly tight, overly so in my opinion as there is very little if no slack at all.
I will definately be replacing all the sprockets and chains and probably the bearings as well. this is looking like a long term project as a rented townhouse with 35sm of sir walter isnt the best surface for a scotty anyway. i do have half a mind towards using it as a parts mower or reselling it but ill just lose cash that way. i am leaning towards a hot rod scotty but thats a way off.

I would be very interested to see the completed hot-up if you ever do it!

ok, after a brainstorming session with a few mates some ideas are forming.
please feel free to point out any obvious flaws in my plan.
1. mount a barrel or keg fuel tank of about 1-2 ltrs on the handle bars.
2. have a braided fuel line gravity feed down to the original tank and carby.
3. this is where it gets cool, cut the guts out of an old 4 barrel carby so it fits neatly over the top of the original carby making it look like the old briggs is sucking from a double pumper. the braided fuel line will connect to the side of the 4 barrel like its supposed to but will feed the original tank/carby set up.
4. a few measurements show that i should be able to mount a bug catcher air scoop on top. hopefully i can make a linkage to get the butterflies to open when i rev the engine.
i'm working out where to run the exhaust but it's still just beer talk at the mo..

in other news, i bought another one, a 17 inch, photos soon.

Hi biglenny and congrats on a good score! The 17" Scotty is a great machine and even better with a genuine Japanese Honda G100 2.5HP on it....Well done, mate.
Here's a pic of mine...

Are you going to restore it?

That would be awesome but you should run a supercharger with some sort of electric motor to drive the belt and use a highly polished holley 650dp the linkage shouldnt be too hard or maybe some sort of dual throttle cable off a single lever so there is no need for a linkage and a HOLDEN badge

Hey guys, it seems to me you are stretching the limits of the Scott Bonnar forum a bit with this hotrod stuff. Nothing wrong with the topic, just seems like the wrong forum. Maybe Off Topics would be a better fit?

I've been at it again. Just got my hands on a scotty model 65 24" cut with a Honda G200. I'll whack some photo's up soon.
THE WIFE IS NOT HAPPY.
"why do you need a mower that big when our yard is 10m x 3m?"
"I just bloody do".

Hi biglenny, as this topic had digressed from Scott Bonnar to off topic to hot-rodding....it is not contributing to the archives....could you please post the pics of your Model 65 in the Photo Gallery and if you start a renovation or restoration post them in the relevant forum... wink

This will keep the archives correct for future use by members and guests contemplating similar questions.
Thanks mate, I will now close this thread.
If any member has anything to add, please PM a moderator.
