Hi everyone, got a phone call from my parents last Saturday saying that Dad had found a Supreme at a Garage sale for $5.So down we went to collect. Here's some pictures. I did get it going but after getting it home now I can't.I guess there must be junk in the carby. When it was running it was running better than most twins,it was very very smooth.Just a bit noisy,as the muffler plate has rusted away,as usual. The only real problem is the catcher it's not in such great shape.I do have another reasonable red catcher so I guess when it comes to restore time I will have to try and paint one green.Someone has buggered the handles up.It looks like they maybe lost the section divider between the bars and have put a short one in,not to worry I should have another set here. All in all I'm very happy for $5.
Hi Jeffrey, on a good score there mate, It will come up a treat when you give it the treatment....

Should be this afternoon.Going for a bit of job searching shortly. Then I will clean it up and hopeful get it running again this afternoon. Will add clean pictures when it's done.
maybe i was lucky ? painted a catcher a few months ago , scrubbed it with truck wash 1st and painted when it was hot with VHT pressure pac still on and looks good so far . been hit with the pressure washer a few times and sticks well it seems . but time will tell
You just have to get a plastic primer and it will work quite well.Remember how many car bumpers are painted in plastic. The paint just has to be able to flex a little, but it is very doable.
But the bumpers on cars are not 30+ years old plastic thats weathered and dried out.
My thinking was more along the lines of plastic fuel tanks and motor bike plastics. Fuel tanks are a different issue, but motorbike side plastics are not that different.
Twin catchers are hard to find. If you have a good orange one, painting over it is basically throwing away a good orange catcher that might have been worth a lot of money to someone or might have been a swap for a good green one. (i doubt it the orange ones are by far more common)
Im sure its a ways off yet, if i remember right you have a big pile of mowers to restore.
Yes that's the problem I do have a few restores in front of it.The biggest problem at the moment is to many other fixable/sell-able mowers in the way at present. Can't get to my restores. It's giving me the pips.Anyway your right something may turn up.If not I guarantee painting one won't be a problem. It will work out just fine.
or running at all . the one here i would just like to hear running before it leaves ! one day i might try harder with it , finaly got some time off haha but the boss needs things done too around here . a tad worried though , its rumbley in the bottom end so i dont need to do damage !! oh yeh thats the same catcher i said i painted , still looking good too how old would it be ?
strong at the front , blue but dull at rear .. fuel yes i think but the engine was full of water when i got it , hence the noisy bearings ! but its ok i'll try again soon but dont wanto damage more than it is already but man it would be great to hear it going ! same as yours though no bottom left on the muffler , just gauze type stuff and bits of rusty steel . its been sitting now for a month or more , no plugs and under cover in the warm breeze , we still have !! so nice n dry now i hope .
i would for sure yes but its been given to mr davis so i dont like to pull it apart now . i dont like getting basket cases , too hard too work out without proper manuals or knowlage . haha im having enough trouble with plastic carby's !!
