My lovely 'Beast' - an Oleo Mac 284F - has died. The piston and rings are completly stuffed. Cyllinder luckily still looks and feels ok.....BUT.... no one seems to be selling piston kits for these saws anymore. I've asked Oleo Mac dealers in Oz, webshops in the US, Canada, Ireland and Greece, looked everyhwere on eBay....no love. Who has any hints or tips. I love this saw and want to fix it!!
I have had a look around my usual sources and come up empty, can we have a few photos of your piston you currently have, I have a suspicion that echo parts might fit.
Hi Joroen, and a warm welcome to the forum. It's great to have you aboard. If you put a post up on this forum, there is a member there, gmax, who is a Oleo-mac guru....he may be able to help you with advice on parts, or maybe someone else on that forum will. Please Click HERE Please let us know how you get on. Once again Joroen, to OutdoorKing.
Please do not PM me asking for support. Please post your questions in the appropriate forums, as the replies it may receive may help all members, not just the individual member. Kindest Regards, Darryl
Good news....and bad news!!
Good:
Managed to find an Oleo Mac piston with same bore. Machined down the piston so it fits the domed cylinder and filed down the 'guts' of the piston so the bearing fits. Happy days...she ran again....and ran good!
Bad:
Ignition coil cracked - no more spark
Any hints/clues on where to look for NOS or used?
Thanks people
