Found another Scott Bonnar model 720 today. Not sure if it will go easily but I guess I will find that out. Also today I put the correct engine on my Model 520.
Here are some pictures of them.

I had a look, ive got 2 green 4hp 720s and 2 520s one blue 4hp one hammertone blue with a red tecumseh.
I think ive got 2 catchers. From memory one was a bit sad.

Its been raining. Try and get some pics tomorrow.

Hi Jeffery, just out of curiosity, can you please have a look at the SB ID plate affixed to the mower and tell us what model number it is...this seems an earlier model of the 720 (even though they share the same base) but the handle-bar set-up is different and also the earlier type SB logo on the Briggs...It would be interesting to have the air-cowling numbers on the Briggs to see what year the engine was made. wink
cheers2

Sure thing Deejay might get time this afternoon. The 520 engine isn't original to that base. However it did come from another 520 base.

Sorry Bob I didn't answer your question.Yes the only problem with it's base is the front piece.Other than that the base is quite good.

Damn shame, both the 720's ive got here are the same. So was the one i sold a while back. Must be weak across the front.

The beauty of Melb, if you dont like the weather, wait ten mins.
720 unchecked
520 rebel briggs, side busted out of base
520 rebel tecumseh in good shape
720 checked, something wrong dont rememebr what, think it ran but not real well, got put up the back shed, axles are all bend like its been pushed sideways by something.

Both catchers are not much chop, better than a poke in the eye with a stick.

Wow, that's quite the set there Bob, I've not seen the blue ones before.

I'm really starting to think there was a weakness to the front of these bases though, out of the 10 I've seen with that style of base recently, 6 have had the same gaping hole in the front.

Operationally it's not a real issue due to the second skirt at the front, and for Jeffrey it's not a worry as he knows where to get them repaired, and once restored, I doubt he will be tacking trees with them, Just interesting to note how much that particular damage is popping up!

Cheers
Ty

Care to clarify what you want.
Id assume the blue rebel with the Tecumseh. I think i have another cowl here with the vent on top, its black. I would assume the side pulls are not too common. You can convert them to top start with a cup and cowl, i have done it in the past, but im not sure i have a spare side starter. It may be the same as the 2 stroke.

The catchers??? they are better than nothing.

Id say the other three are not worth much more than parts.
The B&S rebel is only together as i was going to sort the engine and try it.
The far 720 im pretty sure the motor is no good, axles are all bent, wreck.
The near 720 im not sure.

And when are you going to come and get it???
Bring stuff to swap.

I was looking in the other thread and the engine HP seems to dictate what handles the machine is meant to have.
I think all 3 are 4HP so the viking closest seems to have the wrong handles, unless its a different model year. Your pics dont show the top part of the handles Jeffrey, whats yours got??

The 720 Viking that I have (the one on the left) has the same handle bars as yours.Yes for sure the blues ones I want.I'm not sure if I want the other two other than to wreck out for parts. The one on the right has the throttle control that I need. The blue one with the rebel on the base does that have a sticker on the engine anywhere saying Scott Bonnar? I had herd that they did take those engines but I've never seen one before.

Here Bob here is the 3 that I have,I had another one but It had to donate an engine to the 520 as it has a much better base and a later model and wrong briggs on it.I only have one catcher for all 3.

I will just leave those 4 aside then.

Its got no SB markings on the Tecumseh motor.

Ive also got an older commercial Superswift here with a TVS90 Tecumseh motor on it. A bit newer than the SB520 by the look of it.

I think there was something else not victa with a tecumseh as well, Will have to look.
I dont mind em, they are not a bad engine, a bit of a pain to work on and those carbs hate water, definately not as idiot/abuse proof as a Briggs.
