It's had a few "improvements" by the look of it, but it turns over.

The mate who gave it to me wants me to restore it!

1968 Model 550 'New Utility' 125cc

Model 2680 Engine, with the G3 carby I beleive, It should have older wheels, and the fuel cap is wrong, but most of it seems original.

The throttle assembly should be the small filter type, with the throttle mounted to the side of the filter can.

I'm not so sure it was a G3,it took the same carby as what my Cortina 2 has.Which is more like the 3L carby.Sorry this is the best picture I have at the moment.

You can clearly see it isn't a G3.

I'll have to get some more pics of it on here. I must admit that I have done anything to it except a quick clean with the Gerni. I know it's been repainted, but would that green be right? It's still got the decals under the paint too.

You've got me all excited now, might have to see what I can do with it before the Engine Rally at Easter!

Here's some more pics of it. Slow and tedious getting the paint of the decals with as little damage as possible though.[Linked Image]

NO!

That's a bloody lot rarer than a G3, that's the G2, there a damn sight harder to find!

Big metal flap, different jet and linkage system!

I'd better look back over the books, I may gave misread that!

Umm ok! lol.

Pretty sure I have another one or two of those carbs laying around here somewhere, even my old orange utility has one on it, unless G3's came out with an alloy bowl too. It's got plastic pieces on the top.

The G3 also came out with an alloy bowl, the difference is in the governing system.

The G3 has a plastic arm around the post, that the cable hooks into, the G2 has a metal lever system away from the post.

The G3 has a plastic "Flag" while the G2 has a large metal one.

In this photo, the one on the left is a G2, the one on the right a G3.

Hi Ty, these photos are great for the archives, it would be great to have photos of all the Victa carbies for identification purposes, I will post some ideas in Tappet Talk. wink

I'm already onto that one Darryl, I've pretty much got photo's of all of them now!

Well, all the major variations, counting minor variations, and jet differences, Victa has so far made at least 32 carbies.

That's magic Ty, thanks. Any idea of what colour it should be? It looks like a Brunswick Green at the moment, but it was brushed on. Definately not original.

Thanks Ty, that helps me heaps.

Looks like Mid Brunswick base, Jade Green Hammertone cowl, Macho Silver Hammertone tank, and a just a pale green on the handles.

I've even got one of those fuel caps, and the wheels, here.

I have none of the toe guards though, and would that be the original air filter? The drawing you posted earlier has a different one.

Cheers.

I believe the one above is ever so slightly older, however the colour scheme still applies, the ring is pretty much if not completely identical to the one released with the model 5 from what I can tell, but I have not ever had any of the guard rings, so I cant be sure.

It was an optional extra however, and is not necessary for the mower to count as original.

Cheers
Ty
