does this appear to be the one Ty?Its a very early 3F series brass nut version. This came in some parts I was given with a model 1 Rotomo,so it wasnt actually on a mower.I think you can get how it all goes from the Images. Let me know if it is accurate from the parts manual. The first Image shows the only difference I can see between this and a std 3F.Jet and block are unmarked,Im under the assumption the jet and block sizes may be greater, especially if its a marine or high load industrial application.small bowl nut and large slide screws you would normaly associate with a 3L are the only other differences I can see. Beautiful, thank you!
Apart from the mount (the diagram I have is does not show the brass nut type) that's a match, I'll scan up the diagram and throw it up here too.
Hopefully i can find some info regarding it's use, I'm guessing either rural customers or outboards, but then again, I don't know if Victa was in the outboard game as far back as the brass nut times.
I'll keep you up to speed with my research results!!!
Cheers Ty

Awesome! Thanks Ty.Ok so shes just a Std 3F body, easy enough to revert.Model 4,I wonder why?I guess it is actually the fourth carby in line I suppose.Check out the part nos,all have the 3 Prefix. So I reakon we can date these then to the Outboards and various Industrial Apps.A mate of mine has a outboard with the model 5 series engine style,Ill check and see if his uses this carby type...Does anyone know of any industrial applications this was fitted too,as none come to mind.
Mal.

OK, so it turns out the actual number of this carby is "3D" this can be seen above in the arts list, note the first item on the list, "Carburettor Assembly - 3D". I have also found a little more info, the first is reference to which engines used it, the first section of this page: ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/03/full-5013-5629-scan0001.png) So you see the items listed are the ones that differ from a standard model 4 engine, now I tracked down one of them, the '7B' air cleaner, which looks to me like the one familiar to the early outboard victa engines. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/03/full-5013-5630-scan0003.png)

Actually more like the engine on a model 5, the classic "Victa 18"

Ty, I just got my outboard and it has this carby, or at least has the needle set up and has the same choke/air cleaner. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2013/06/full-6801-11334-carby_needle.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2013/06/full-6801-11335-carby_needle_2.jpg) it has ESS on the body behind the tickler and has 5 under the Victa next to where the spring clip over the top clips into the body it is on the mount side of the clip. dont know if this helps with anything, havent pulled it right down yet as I just wanted to get it fired up. cheers.

Ty since you have been gone for a while also you may have missed my last post of the carby I put up off my outboard, I was stoked after seeing how much work you had put into looking into these and to actually get one was a bonus, like I said I hope it helps a bit.

Thankyou for that Jonesy, it's great to have an image of the carby completed, with the air filter, and the markings you have noted are something I will compare to my records, very interesting info indeed.
This also helps with evidence showing the production life and variations of the 3FI, Bluegmhtmonaro's one dates back to the Brass Nut design of the 3F, so we know it was in priduction from very early on in Victa's history, likeley it ran along side the Brass Nut 3F, as I doubt the 3FI would have been made using this mount after the failure, and removal of it from the 3F. The diagram matches yours, but as variations have sometimes been observed between the diagrams and actual production, it is confirmed by the match with your model, which indeed appears to have the small standard inlet mount, such as that of a model 5.
Also, I'm noticing that there appears to be no variation to the air intake mount on your model, when viewed in comparison to the diagram, however, if it is an option for you, I would love to see a picture of the carby with the air filter removed.
From what we have here, it seems the 3FI may well have started back in the early days of the Brass Nut, and continued as far as the model 5 and beyond.
I'm curios as to weather a large intake port model was made, and if so did it simply become another amendment to the 3FI, or did the 3FI follow the name style at this point, and like the 3F become the 3LI.
Cheers Ty

That would be amazing, I have always had a keen interest in Victa's Carburettors, the variations, the models, the history, I just love them, and if this helps narrow down another variation, well, wow!!!!
Cheers Ty
