Hi all,
just got myself one of those Olympic Edition powertorques (Green and gold) but the thing wont start. Was leaking fuel from the tap so I replaced that. I also replaced the carby o'ring so the fuel supply is there. Spark plug is also new.
The piston looks good from the exhaust side with no scoring, from the inlet side there is no scoring but there are some BROWN coloured markings (i assume from combustion).
I am not really sure to what else i could check?
any help would be great.
Cheers
Ben

luvpsi, the first step is to test the spark. You can do that by removing the spark plug then grounding the metal body of the plug to the cylinder head and attaching the plug lead to the top of the plug. Put controls in start position and pull starter. Watch for blue sparks across the spark plug gap. If you have spark, next test is to put a spoonful of fuel in through the spark plug hole, reinstall spark plug, connect lead, and try to start it. Hopefully it will start and run for a few seconds.
Report back on results, and we can take this further.

@Grumpy, my similar mower (victa commmando 2-stroke) is also hard to start, while i pull the cord i'm hearing this loud air sound from the decompressor. Could my problem be the decompressor?
Because i took the decompressor out, the valve lack springiness, seem the diaphragm inside is worn or something. Under what condition do you need to replace the decompressor? Btw i have the sealed decompressor and short thread.
Maybe i should also checked whether it start with a tea spoon of fuel because it does have spark.
Am i in the right place or do i need to start a new topic?

You are in the right place, Gerson, it is a Powertorque-doesn't-start-easily issue.
The usual way to check whether the decompressor is keeping your engine from starting, is to remove it. Just unscrew it from the cylinder head, temporarily put an ordinary spark plug in the threaded hole, and block the hose that leads to the decompressor with a screw of the right size. Then try to start the engine. Of course you'll have to pull a lot harder than usual. If it still doesn't start the problem was not primarily with the decompressor (though it still might have problems).
How does the engine run once it starts? If it has full power and responds well to speed changes, you have a starting problem rather than a fueling problem. A starting problem without a fueling problem is most likely to be that your primer isn't working, and you may be able to see if that is the case by the way it feels when you push the bulb. You could also see if it starts easily when you prime it with a spoonful of fuel through the spark plug hole. If your primer feels right, and fuel through the spark plug hole doesn't help, and since your spark is OK, the next question is whether your compression feels pretty strong with the decompressor removed. Because you aren't used to feeling it without the decompressor this might be unclear. The next step then would be to remove the muffler and have a look at the side of the piston and the piston rings, through the exhaust port. If the rings are stuck and/or you can see rough stripes/gouges running up the side of the piston, that will be the problem. Post a picture of what you see through the port, and we can comment on whether it looks good or bad.

Thanks Gtumpy.
Update: I tested the spark and it was going fine, firing well. Then i poured some fuel down the spark plug hole and she started! for a few seconds..
Then I refitted everythind again and again she would not start. I stripped the carby primer cap again and replaced it with another one and she started!
so it looks like it was the primer bulb or perhaps the needle that was the issue.
Thanks again for all your support!

Thanks for reporting back, luvpsi. It is helpful to others who read this in the archives, if the outcome is clear and the problem is solved.
I'll close this thread. If anyone needs it to be reopened in the future, just send a PM to a moderator.
