Cheers

Well fingers crossed on that.I think the only problem that I'm going to have now is going to be the handle bars. There is some rust on them.I may have to get them re-chromed.

OK I would just like to make a correction for the post I put up after I repainted the bases and catcher flaps. The name of the paint shop is in fact the wrong one, that is the shop who couldn't help me.The shop that did have the right stuff is called Auto Paint Supplies. On Gladstone St Fyswick. So if others in this area are after paint that's the better place to go.

Yes it much better just having some major problems on how to get the heads cleaned.I just can't get them clean enough to be able to shine them up.After I work that out things will come together fairly smart, minus handles as I may have to re-chrome them as there not to good for memory. Will have to get them out of the shed soon.

I can't wait to see them either Jeffrey, so I can get a good reference to be able to restore mine.

I tried drowning some heads in export degreaser without washing it off after 6 or so coats of degreaser I blasted them with my karcher and got them pretty damn perfect

The degreaser I'm using just doesn't seem to be moving it.I did try a bit of soda blasting (which showed some good signs of working)but even wearing two pair of safety goggles I got sick of getting it in my eyes.[Censored] that stuff can hurt.

Can you get to a sand blaster? Just a thought, I have ready access to one. If you want, I've probably got the same heads here, I could clean them up and do a trade when you come down.

Cheers.

Maybe you could grab some of the 'pink stuff' when you are here Jeffery. Give that a go.

Class 8 degreaser.

Put it on shiny aluminium and its not shiny anymore and you have to polish it.
Put it on dirty aluminium and it gets the gunk off and its still not shiny but you can polish it up.

Hi All,
I used Kenco heavy duty degreaser on the head of the Model 5 Victa....came up a treat....available from Auto One.
I soaked the head in it overnight and used a fine wire brush...no probs. wink

The pink stuff is a corrosive degreaser called 'shock treatment'
You get it out of the 20L drum ive got in the back shed. lol

Im pretty sure its the same stuff.
CT18 Is it alloy tec or something, comes in a litre bottle. Alloy cleaner or something. I did buy a litre bottle to clean up a crusty bullbar once and i worked out that its pretty much the same as the pink stuff.

Stings your eyes and any sensative skin. If you dont wear gloves and you play with the stuff your skin goes all funky and soft.

Hi Bob, I think you said it all when you said corrosive....most probably a very strong alkali....be careful if you get it on your skin or in your eyes.... wink
