Evening All

I have came across a 17 inch Cylinder. Have spoken to the guy and he does not know too much about it. I got him to measure the width of the blades and he came back at 19mm. (Depending on how accurate his measurement is)

Do you think there would be any life left in this cylinder? I measured mine, which is worn out and it is at 18.5mm. I assume that new they would be at about 25mm in width?

Jarrad, the cylinder you have photographed seems to have enough meat on its blades for more resharpening, but I am not clear on what its history has been, it may not have been a happy one. In the picture it looks as if there may be more meat on some parts of the cylinder than on others, which seems odd to me. Let's see what Deejay says about it.

Hi to Jarrad and grumpy....yes grumpy, I agree with you this reel has had its chips...my scenario...It has collected something through it in its lifetime that had severely damaged it...and has been ground down to alleviate the anomaly....if you look at the right hand top of the rear blade, you will see that its been ground almost to the separator.
Unfortunately, that spells cactus!! frown

Thanks for posting though Jarrad. grin
