Hey all,

I've got a VIcta Tornado whipper snipper and I'm almost out of the pre-cut trimmer line that came with it in a pack.

I called Victa to verify that it needed 3.0mm line (I don't have the manual for it) and the lady made a point of telling me that I couldn't use the "curly" line that comes on a spool because it "won't do the job". I'm wondering if this is in fact true or if this is just something that they tell everyone so people will continue to buy Victa brand pre-cut trimmer line?

Has anyone with this particular whipper snipper used regular trimmer line (on a spool) and cut to the correct length without any issues? Also, if I should be getting the Victa brand pre-cut line, is there anywhere online I can buy this from? The mower shop here has to order it in.

Thanks smile

Hi Loungfly
You can use just about any line as long as it fits in the holes of the head. I have (had) the tornado plus and have used 2.4, 2.8 & the recommended 3mm line.
After using up the original line, I simply used an original as a length sample and trimmed the lengths. I am up to my 3rd roll.
Ovbiously the thinner stuff doesnt last as long but there is no issue with the curling you get from the spool. The centrifical force straightens it when spinning anyway.

Cheers

In addition to what I already posted about the different size lines; I came across some more info from the unit and from the manual:

1. If you look at the line head (underneath) it actually says 3mm.
2. I checked the user manual and it says you can trim your own 3mm line

I think the lady on the phone may not have been up to speed (or they changed their policy).

Cheers
