Id say they have swapped the cylinder.
Not sure how the govenor would work I suppose its blowing air so you could adjust it.

I would guess the same, I also think that base may be more original to the carby, not the engine!

Ive never see a low arch with a series 80 on it so im tipping you might be right there.

Agreed, this particular stylie of base was used up till 78 I beleive, the only low arch after that had some slight modifications, I also beleive the name corsair was post 75, so the carby/cylinder (71-74) the base (75-78) and the engine (81-83) are all of a different era!

Yep, bit's from all over the shop!
If it's still there next time, I might be grabbing this one, just for the hell of it, but we will see how we go, I need to watch the space now!
A tidier conversion like this is what I have planned for one of my machines, however I want it to be a little more subtle when done.
