Plugger, It is a common problem with Victa mowers. Just make sure that you turn off the fuel tap when you finish and if the tap was off then you will need to replace the carby 'O' ring on the primer cap.

Hi Plugger, can you please post a pic of the mower, also the model...it will help us to diagnose the problem. There are differences between a full-crank engine and the Powertorque.

Hi Deejay
I cant find the model number but on the cover it says its a Corsair V40. Not sure if this helps.
Just wondering if its possible that the carby is stuff which allowed the fuel to fill up the cranks casing. I tip a fair bit out when i pulled it apart but the exhaust seem to be pretty wet when i pulled that of aswell.

Plugger, if you read Bruce's post above you will see what has probably happened. If you have been leaving the fuel turned on when your mower is not running, and if the carburetor needle and seat is not closing properly, the result will be an overflowing float bowl. The surplus fuel will probably run out continuously through the main jet in the carburetor's venturi, along the intake pipe to the port, and thus into the crankcase. If that is happening you need to carry out a minor overhaul of your carburetor's float bowl, including the needle and seat. If the float is undamaged, you may just need to clean out the seat area and perhaps replace the needle. However Victa plastic carburetors are fairly strange, and you will need to either master them or get help, to reassemble the thing if you dismantle it beyond the float bowl (which is the problem area in this case). Once you stop the flooding you will still need to turn off the fuel tap when you are not using the mower - the Victa carburetor's plastic needle does not achieve a reliable seal, and cannot be relied on not to flood over a long period (hours or days) of not being used.

Plugger, there could be a few issues that are causing this, firstly, there is the fuel tap issue, whitch in itself could be two things, as the float bowl system on a v40 (power torque with LM carby) is designed as a running metering system, rather than a full fuel cut out, so as long as you are turning the tap off after use, try testing the tap by taking the fuel hose off the carby, and letting it rest in a jar over night, with the tap off, if you get more than a couple of mls of fuel your tap may be faulty. let us know how mutch comes out, and we can go from there.
Cheers Ty

I think Ty summed it up best.
You do not need to touch the float bowl till last. First test the tap to see if it leaks when off. New tap is less than $10 from bunnings. Seen this fault with quite a few Victas, engine is flooded before you even go to start it. Then will the carb not leak out the primer with the fuel on and engine stopped? Give it about a minuite, maybe a bit longer. The motor should not be stopped for anymore than about a min before the fuel tap is turned off. If its good, no need to take the face of the carb off.
The float and needle is a basic design, almost to the point of being crude.
