Has ayone used these before, heard of the company or think they are worth a try?

Cheers

Hi Jarrad, the best person to supply a bedknife for you is the engineer that sharpens your reel. He is also is the best person (that has the necessary tools and expertise) to remove the old bedknife from the soleplate, which is cast iron and can crack easily if mishandled. wink
Please don't attempt to remove it yourself.

The new soleplate has to be ground to suit the reel blade angle. The engineer also supplies the knifeblade screws

Some info on reel sharpening, click HERE

Mmm makes me think twice about doing it myself.

In the past have just swapped old bedknife for new one. Need a impact screw driver to get the screws out and back in again. I have always left the sole plate in the mower frame when I have done it.

Then usually clamp the assembled bed knife and sole plate to the table on my milling machine and skim it to ensure the bedknife is flat in relation to the sole plate.

Jarrad, the separating force generated by the milling cutter is enough to deflect the bed knife and sole plate, and if you support it from underneath on the mill's table, you end up milling it to the shape of your supports, not the "free" shape. I think you need to use light cuts on a surface grinder, with the sole plate held by its normal end-mounts, to get the right result.
