Hi
I have a victa here which is over revving i have changed all o'rings (the starter oring was pinched and was leaking) and still the mower is going way to fast. In the back of the carby there is a spring and diaphram i was wondering if i shortend the spring would it bring down the revs?
I have 2 different sized springs here but can not remember which does which. I have worked at Stihl for the last 8 years and worked on only about 10-20 mowers a year. So unfortunatly i have forgotten a few things.
Thanks for any help or advice in advance. Also i did check the starter pully for wear around the nut and shaft and that all seems to be okay.

Make sure that the long spring is under the back cover and the small spring is under the diaphragm. Failing that so long as you are certain there are no air leaks try a couple of brass washers CLICK HERE under the throttle cam.

I had a few brass washers left over from ages ago i had to buy a pack of 10. Forgot all about them. I fitted 2 of those i replaced the diaphram and checked the springs everything seems to be spot on but it is still leaking. I have checked every where for cracks or any sign of leakage and can find nothing. I think this one will just be one of those jobs that drives me crazy.

maybe the vacuum control button is blocked? its the bit that connects to the other end of the vacuum hose. On a powertorque its towards the bottom, in the full crank it plugs into the cowl somewhere. cheers matt

I have found that sometime the diaphragm likes to slip just as you pop the cap on, to test, blow on the governor hose, and see if it builds up pressure, and gets harder to blow, or if it just passes by the deprogram.
Cheers Ty

Thats correct mr davis, and if you blow or suck in it hard a few times you can be sure it wont pop in the first time you run it

The Deprogram is a very interesting effect, which results from me not paying enough attention as to the suggestions of my spell checker!
To clarify, if you don't want to de-program your carburettor, then best to read my instructions with the word diaphragm in place of deprogram.
Cheers Ty
