Last night i pciked up a donation of 15 Whipper Snippers from Jeffery (Blumbly), I'll pop up a few phot's of them soon, many can be seen amongst his hard rubbish collection threads.

I also picked up a nice older Tanaka, and another Stihl in the last week.

The Ryobi's will all be stripped for a few choice parts, While the engines ofmost of the Stihl, McCulloch, Tanka, Weedeater, B&D and Flymo Machines will be removed and restored, and added to my Trimmer Engine Museum, alongside a number of other engines (who's photo's are yet to come) Such as Shingu, McCulloch, Tanaka, Craftsman, Ryobi, Poulan...

Nice work, Me and whipper snippers dont get along.....

I have fun with them, Mostly I just like the older little engines, I have a few shelves lined with them now, nice little museum!

I keep a few shafts, Just enough that I have the right sized shaft to use any engine, and I often give them a run.

I also have a few complete ones, But I limit the number of complete ones i Keep due to space.

Ive an idea for ya, will get back to you later with a pic.

I got a little tiller and a blower thing for a royobi split shaft in the hard rubbish, but i dont have the split shaft.


Id be interested in the Tanaka. Trying to ID the one i have here as its missing the starter and i assume the model number is on that.

I Like my two Tanaka's, however, they are practically Identicall, so i could be talked into parting, I think there miught also be a slightly newer Tanaka straight shaft somwhere, I'll get some pictures up.

The Ryoby extensions would be very interesting to me as I do have a split shaft, or, if you want them, I can give you a ryobi split shaft, or adapt another engine onto a ryobi split shaft for you.

In fact, my later tanaka engine might go well onto a Ryobi Scrub Hornet shaft I have, its a split shaft, Bullhorns with straght shaft end on, I'll have a look into that idea, let you know.

Ooops, i meant intersted in seeing a pic of the tanaka.
It could be stuffed in the bore or whatever.
I did meet up with a guy at the hardware store, he said he had a few Tanakas. He wants to do a deal as hes hassling the hell out of me for a 8hp to put on a colt. I could do him a 5hp at a pinch but im not sure ive got an 8 to spare. I think hes getting a bit annoyed that im taking so long to get things sorted out.


If you like wipper snippers it might be best if you and Jeffery take enough time out to stay here a day or two. Ive got a few here that will keep you busy. Id easy have more than 10 or the old Ryobis here.


You can have those attachments if you want em. i was thinking of getting something happening so the old man could use the little tiller attachment, but hes got the Masport/Whirlwind so he dont need it. Hes got all stihl stuff any way. I was just going to keep an eye out for him for a 2 stroke blower.

Bob, I dont know if we will be able to stay too long, We will probably have to do our whole trip in one weekend, due to work.

I might well be interested in the Ryobi attachments, I have a good shaft to suit, and plan to make something pretty powerfull out of it (still deciding on an engine at the moment)

I had a ryobi trimmer, it was a ripper. In the end asking it to do too much hard work and the drive shaft/wire down the middle broke at one end. I tried to fix it by shorteneing things up but it didnt work.

That middle Tanaka looks like it might be the same one. Well the starter is the same 3 bolt pattern
I will chase up some pictures. I thought i had put some on the forum here but i cant find em.

I'll grab a few more pic's of the first two tanaka's, they are virtually identical!

Theres probably over 10 complete bent shafts in there. Engines, Guards and all. Would have taken the plastic off but it was a bit of a pain to get on.

Imaging how many just shafts you could do that trick with.

Its not the same as what youve got but it looks like the starter would fit.

That actually looks a bit closer to the later one, I'll have a dig around, and see if i have a starter to suit.
