Hi all, a very interesting series 70 mower has popped up on ebay, I beleive it to be a 1973 VC-125.

Looks to be in good shape, and this one has been on my list for some time, So I am hoping to win it (I'm highest at the moment!)

If i can get this one, I'll get up some good shots and some of the details of it, as it's a little more unusual than your average series 70 mower!

Here is the link!

And Here is the pic:

Fingers crossed!!!

Cheers
Ty

Looks like a vc sports from here lol apart from the engine size difference, what are the differences?

You can just see the spark plug, which is not in the middle of the head, it is to the right side of the head, and angled toward the back of the mower, also, the cooling cowl has a protrusion in the end, to accommodate the decompression valve, as it went out past the bolts when mounted to the 125cc.

I'm also fairly certain that the sports was never traditionally released with the green cowl, just the 125.

I would be worried about tennants improvements as Grumpy would say.

The catcher has me worried as do what appear to be grey wheel centre covers.

From what I can see in the picture, She is actually pretty originall for this model, Yes, the catcher is wromg, but the grey caps match what I have in my data.

I cant recall if the black handle bars is correct, but it may be, the forst two models had factory green handles, this is the third, and I dont think it's handles were silver.

Engine is spot on, cowl looks very easy to get up to scratch, and throttle/airbox is right, needs a new hose though.

Yeah, I went on a few minutes before close to snipe, only to find another 10 bids thrown on, and it already above my cap (75) so I did a bit of thinking, a little pondering, and ended up throwing a $118.95 bid at the 12 second line, it was confirmed at 6 seconds, and i took the mower for $86!!!

I am, although it looks a bit like a sports, It's a pretty rare mower, I guess no one really wanted the 125 version, and the few that did got the Impala, which was pretty much the same.

Until the listing came on, I had only seen this mower in a badly zoomed in photo of a victa parts-id-wheel.

Yep, It's supposed to be a green Sports/Mustange catcher.

If you would like to spare one, I have a nice tidy Series 80 engine here that you might like, running, with a good carby and throttle.

I wont say no.

Id say i would have been happy to just swap catchers.

I tell you what i do have here that is interesting. A green (its a light ish green like the mustang catcher) catcher thats similar to the one thats on this mower in the pic. Its actually the same as the Black one piece for the plain jane high arch 160, its got no victa moulded into the side. Im thinkig it might be a match for that green store brand higharch i put pics up of and ended up buying.

Ive also got a green catcher in the power plus style if you know what thats off.

The light green one is likely to be of one of the green storebrands or similar, like you say.

The Green power plus, is it the same size as the power plus one?

As fot the engine, It's the better of 2 series 80's I already put aside with you in mind, I only have a couple of machines that use them, and i need to limit my collection size, so i really have no need for these engines. I know you like the series 80, so I popped these ones aside, to trade with you for things like this catcher, so it works for me!

I have another one here, as mentioned, I'll see how it comes up befopre i defiatly offer it though, If it's fried, It'l get the bin, if not, it will be comming along with me.

Joe gave me a tiltacut with a series 80 on it, I'm likely to swap it to series 70, so the S80 off that will be the only spare S80 i need.

Cheers
