Hello All,
Here is my little (not going at the moment)Rotary Hoes of England model "Gem" rotary hoe. This is the smallest of this make at the time.. Villiers engine of course. Didnt get serial number yet. I do have the manual for this machine, and will get it to the manual section in due course.

Wow, again, another very interesting machine!

Do you have any ideas as to what you will need to to this one?

Cheers
Ty

Gooday Again,
The engine in free. I am a bit worried about the drive gears as they are brass and believe tended to wear a lot. Will have to find a few pieces, but think it is a straightforward restoration. Painting is my bugbear - not very good at it - and a good paint job MAKES a restoration. Having the instruction book is a great help to me - (failing memory - senile decay - call it what you will). lol.

I'm sure it will come up well, and if you need some extra painting tips, we have quite a number of successful restorers right here!

Joe, do you think one day that machine may have a thread with photo's (and perhaps a video) all of it's own?

It sounds like another interesting one, and as I break away from the Victa-Only life i have led, I want to see more of what exists out in the wild green yonder!

I was going to say "That sounds like an excuse for a road trip" (I love road trips you see, currently planning 3!)

But then I remembered were Launceston was...

The boat-car is in for repairs at the moment, its needs a new carby, has a loose wire in the ignition, and is imaginary, the mechanic is doing his best.

If you ever do get down there, I would love to see it, but I guess I should stop holding my breath!

I remember when we first got the thing I was around the age of 6, I had to run around infront of it chucking rocks and bricks out of the road as my stepfather followed behind me. Once it got dark we would chug along a bit further and you could littereally see whe exhaust glowing while it was under heavy load....

Now that sounds like it would have been quite exciting, we just had an old rover that spat fire, and sent most of us running for the hills when we were that young!

Sorry to have mislead you all. This machine is actually a BANTAM. The smaller of the line.
