Here are a couple of push mowers I found in the long grass on my blocks (lol - has been too wet to get my mowers out and working). The first is a F & N Lawnmower Co, of Richmond, Indiana, USA. It has a 12 inch cut and the width to the outside of the wheels is 17 inches. I do not know much about push mowers, and have never used one. Can anyone tell me if the triangular slots or pockets on the insides of the wheels are for the attachment points of a grass catcher - or not?? This one was painted roughly with silver frost. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2011/08/full-2933-2305-dsc05755.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2011/08/full-2933-2306-dsc05756.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2011/08/full-2933-2307-dsc05757.jpg) The second push mower has a name on each wheel - UNICORN - and elsewhere on the mower are the words - "Made in USA". This one is smaller, having only a 9 inch cut and being 14.5 inches wide. Both are restorable and I hope to do just that - later. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2011/08/full-2933-2308-dsc05758.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2011/08/full-2933-2309-dsc05759.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2011/08/full-2933-2310-dsc05760.jpg) Trust you find these of interest Stationary
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

I have a nice old one here that has often sat in the background of a few of the photo's I post, It needs the wooden post that makes the vertical section of the handle bars replaced, and the roller is something i knocked up from an old tree branch, which is not really heavy enough. But it still works, and I ocassionally use it for the really nice bit of lawn between the house and the shed, it takes a while though! Here it is, playing the role of 'coat rack' in the background of one of my collection photo's. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2011/08/full-5013-2750-img_0400.jpg) I'll grab a couple of pics of it tonight, I dont recall any identifying features though, so i cant say what it is.
Cheers Ty

By memory, the coat actually fell off that day.
The handle beam has started to rot away at the base end join, you can see the wad of duct tape holding it together.
A friend of mine spotted this lying in a pile of garbage in one of the backstreets of Newtown, in Sydney. She grabbed it, and put it aside for me. It came without rollers, so i just walked into the scrub across the road and foung a branch i though suitable, then i roughly choped it to lenth, then into s few segments, and drilled a hole down the centre of the segments, I then taped up the handle, and threw some penetrene into the gears, and it works really well.

Attempting the live action shoot while running full pelt with the thing (to get good throw) was tricky, I have a few shots of just grass, a few of my feet, and one of my hand!

I'm guessing theres little chance anyone out there recognises this one, I would love to know who made it.
I probably should give it a clean up, I want to keep it looking 'Rustic' but It deserves a sharpening, a better roller, and some real repairs to the handle.

As said, I will be Keeping the rustic charm, Just giving it sharp blades, a more appropriately weighted roller, and getting rid of the duct tape (which will involve fixing the hanlde)

Hi Ty, there's a one in two chance that your machine was manufactured right here in Oz...most of the British machines were all branded; most of which had it cast round the circumference of the outer hub. It's a pity that we don't have the Patent No.... that would give us the manufacturer. I agree also on your reasoning for conservation, if you intend to use it,a good clean and grease, a sharpen and a roller that would be consistent with its age, a new handle main shaft would not only bring it back to original, but still rustic...Time will do the rest..

I can't see how it will lose character at all Jeffery, The rust will stay, and the new handle rod I have is sturdy, but aged.
Thanks for that Darryl, I'll have a good look through for any indicators while I'm in there cleaning up the gears, and greasing it.
Cheers Ty

Maybe you can't see it but I can.I mean look at it it's on deaths door yet it still works.Maybe you should just leave it at that.I mean if I had it I wouldn't change a [Censored] thing.Maybe coat it in clear.

Nah, the handle is still on it's death even with the tape, its just making it hard to use.
Plus the tape is not old, and i want the whole thing to look old!
