Well, we (Jeffery, aka Blumbly, & myself) are on our way back from QLD with our interstate mower haul, been alot of driving, and a few mowers too!

Jeffery has himself a compact, a lightweight & a model 6 sheerline, as well as the mustang and autodrives we will be grabbing from Jonno tonight (at about 1 am!!!)

I have the Rotoscyth, and the Lawcub I came to grab, as well as some other interesting ones in varios states of repair, including an old simplex, a scotty with a jap (not reel type) a few old rover bases, one has a villiers, and a few other bits and peices.

Pictures to come, we are 2 hours short of newcastle now, so we will be getting back to mine at abou 4am!

Cheers
Ty

It's no worries Chris, Jeffery was able to clean up the hub, and tighten it all up enough to get home, thankfully the bearing was just worn down, not busted up, and was not running hot.

Got to mine about 10am, unloaded, changed the trailer over, and Jeffery continued onto his place after a coffee.

By memory, the extra mowers i now have (all in different states, some had been done up, and ebay listed, when they were not sold, thrown in local recycling skip for crush)

-Little scott bonnar rotary, full base, and JAP engine, needs blade assy.
-Rover Cadet base, handles but no wheels, simplex engine, no carby, muffler or cowl.
-Simplex mower, simplex engine, needs handle bars (has tank) and muffler.
-rover mower, with villiers engine X2, one complete, one seperated.

And naturally I also have the Rotoscythe I went up for, and the Lawn cub.

I'll line them all up and grab a few pictures tomorrow, till then, I have one of the Ebay pics for the 2 I bought, and a few of the skip mowers:

In this photo, the simplex on the left, then the scotty, then the cadet, then the lawn cub, then a pair of villagers that i dont have, then the Rotoscythe.

Cheers
Ty

It might be better to replace that trailer hub bearing before it breaks up, Ty. I used one once until the wheel wobbled wildly, due to both bearings being smashed. The problem was one of them had heated, and its inner ring had welded to the axle. I had to chisel the inner ring off in small pieces, then use a small angle grinder on the spots where the ring and axle had welded themselves together. Much better to take the "stitch in time saves nine" approach. It only takes maybe ten minutes to replace the bearing normally, but that welded one took more than an hour.

The Trailer is Jeffery's, and the tightening was just to get us back to here, from sydney (300k) and then Jeffery back to canerra (110k) where it's new bearings already await! (However, this whole experience has reminded me it may be time to check out the bearings on mine.)

Here are some of my finds from the trip:

Yes well that's what's going to happen now.The bearings are getting old.So I will replace them now. Will do in the next week or two.Maybe this week,I don't need them getting any worse than they are.As I have more trips to the coast and at some time off to Leeton. Here are the mowers that I picked up from Brisbane and Sydney.

Also was given another base for this Sheerline. It is in much better condition than the base of this one. When it is restored it will be on the other base.

Also picked up another Green VC-Mustang, (not complete)but it will only be used for spare parts.

Pretty sure it does, mum dropped it off, didnt really take my fancy, the base looks okay, the plastic handle segment is usable if you are gentle with it just the back axle needs straightening.

Yes besides the hang up with trailer all went well.Got a good and varied array of mowers.Ty certainly got the most, but I'm sticking to my guns and only staying with Victa. There are enough Victa's for me to get in trouble with.In fact I have already as I'm just about out of space for them. That's ok I will find more room.Sure is a long drive.Off the top of my head it was about 15 hours, either way that is.Was certainly good to get home.Safe and sound tired and feeling wired, but safe.

Here are the last of the ones i have picked up from this trip:

[Linked Image]

These ware also in the collection found in the rubbish skip, the engine on the yellow rover was once on the blue simplex (I have seen pictures of the collection before it was given up on) and is the3 same model.

I dont know what will happen to the green base yet, The Yellow one will be rebulit in stages, firstly, using other engine spares, i will create a working machine with this engine & base, then, over time, i will source originall parts, and swap them over. I have a few pictures of this mower before it's disposal, and will be working from those.

Cheers
Ty
