That's the problem nobody seems to know what it is.I can't understand how nobody in the worlds knows.Somebody or company would have made it.It is a strange, but interesting mower.Anyway we will just see I guess.

I have seen this one around a bit too, and I tend towards the speculation that the base has been 'Home-Made' some time before it met it's restorer.
Cheers Ty

Well that was mentioned on the other forum. As the guy who owns it said,'the caps on the ends of the fins are die formed and spotwelded on, sure seems factory built to me'.After reading that, any one who would hand made a mower really wouldn't go to that kind of trouble. They would make it from something a lot easier that cast steel. That's a lot of effort to go through.Unless you were going to mass produce.

Well here is an update, and I guess this shows it's not a home made mower.Another has been found. It looks like this one has a four stroke engine on it.Here is some pictures. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2011/08/full-5048-2158-cimg0146.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2011/08/full-5048-2159-cimg0147.jpg) This one does have a few more markings on it. Mono manufacturing from springfield Mo. Would be cool to have one.I want one now.

Well researched Blumbly, and now we have a manufacturer. I have never seen one like it in my time, I have doubts that any came to Australia, however you may like to keep your eye on American eBay; you may see one come up for sale there. The guy that owns the restored "Atomic" may appreciate knowing that his machine is in fact a "Mono" if you have a way of getting in touch. Well done, mate.

there is a few minor differences between them
the engine
the handle bars
the wheels both sets seem to be originals with matching paint to the engines leading me to believe the first mower never had much use before it was restored due to the fact the tread on its tyres seems almost new even though the wheel has plenty of rust of course they could be replacements
i like the rope pull starter on the first one never seen a cup type only the flat ones like the rotomo ect
after all that i believe there must be a few more similar but different models well i hope so anyway
on a side note i reckon one of those new spaceship looking briggs engines would look right at home on the restored one but i LOVE chrome
Cheers, Emmo

Aww, no fins on the chainsaw? To be honest, I'm not partial to the mower with fin's look, However, the top ones restoration is very well done, and suits the style. Also, while I am not really into the look, I can see it's value as a collectable, In fact, things like 'Ugly' make some mowers more collectable, Like the Victa Vortex, Ugly tranlates to Unique! Wings only work sometimes, Valliant S-Series pulls off wings beautifully, This mower does not, but you could say it's Beatufully Ugly! Emmo, I'm guessing the differences are due to changes made for different years, although there is every possibility this mower was offered with a choice of engine. As for the cup starter, I have seen it a few times, I beleve it was seen on some engines that came with a recoil-starter option, as this cup could be engaged by the right kind of starter, therefore the only change needed to fit a recoul strter would be to punch/drill out the mounting holes, saving the manufacturer the cost of making two different starter attachments.
Cheers Ty

Yes I think I will keep an eye on some American sites as I would like one.As for letting that guy know about the brand name he already knows as he owns both of them.

If you find one, let me know, While it is not the prettyest thing about, it has alot of collectable value, and is a very unique machine, so if you ever get one, I would love to see it!!
Cheers Ty

The only 2 problems about finding one is.1,I really don't think they were available here in Australia. So I would have to import one.2,The problem is they appear to be rare in America. However if I do get the chance to get one I will jump at it.

Yes mate, the chainsaw was made by the Mono Manufacturing Co in Springfield Missouri. They also made lawn tractors...
