Hi all trying to put together a VC-160 Mark II engine, but it seems to have a different bottom of the crankcase. Here are some pictures.

As you can see it has a sleeve over the end. Then a washer over the seal. Then to hold the washer in place in has a plastic bush.Well the plastic bush was destroyed. When I got it apart there was not much of the bush left. What I need to know is where can I get another plastic bush? As from what I can see I think it would leak and the washer will not stay in place without it.
HELP PLEASE!!! I need to put this engine together.
Thanks for any help in trying to track one down.

The only thing is would the oil leak though the seal? I mean other crank cases would have the outside of the oil seal covered by the crankcase.

Was this one of the ones i gave you?

If so, it might be off an auto drive, one of the vc's i scrapped had a regular base, but a green auto drive cowl & Tank.

I assumed the cowl was fitted to replace a broken one on a non-propelled mower, but it could have been a damaged base replaced and converted to non-propelled.

I should have a spare crankcase from the right era that you could have, and you could keep that one aside for a VC-Auto Drive, when you find one!

What's it's serial, if its from an auto drive, i would imagine 73 or 74, as if it's the one i gave you, it had a G3.

No this motor was of the first VC I got. This is the one that I couldn't get apart and so I got the replacement one from you.Engine number 5271014993.I really don't think it would be an auto drive.Didn't they have longer crankshaft?

Hmm, that seems like the original one to me, the 52 at the start seems to be on most MKI 7 MKII VC-160's, and the age is a dead Match to the MKII VC-160.

So if it's not auto drive, I wonder what it is then, does the sleeve seem original?

I would have to say yes,as it looks like you could never get the sleeve off without doing damage to the crankcase. Of-course the sleeve wouldn't survive either. Also on other crankcases the ends curve a little from what I can see here (without the sleeve being off)it appears to be dead straight. From what I can see.

I Cant say for sure either way, I need to see if it's in any of my parts diagrams first, if it is, then i can get a number for it and find out if it's available.

Would you like me to put aside a S70 MKII Crank Case Just in case, I can make sure its from a VC-160 if possible, so it is original.

Not sure unless it is a 1971 one,as that is what we think it is.

That seems to be strange.Could it be from another mower from that time and not a VC?

The numbers do match up for a VC...But that is odd.

However i do recall seing something similar one, i cant remember when though. I have forund a few odd, and un-documented original adaptions on some mowers, I think Victa occasionaly trialed a few idea's but i guess if they didnt take off, they didnt make it into the manuals.

I have a few other odd factory fittings i will put up in the victa section.

Ok I guess for now if you have a 71 then that would get me out of trouble at this stage.

I have found the plastic bush that came from the bottom of the crankcase.Or maybe the remains, I don't know as what it should look like.

Now as you can see it seems to have a lump on one side. Now I don't think it has melted that way by the look of it,it was made that way. In fact I would suspect that it should go all the way around to hold it in place better.

Now here is the bush sitting in where it is suppose to go,but as you can see it doesn't fit properly.I know this may not help in finding a replacement. I just wanted to show roughly what it is I'm looking for.

Ok got my paint today for my VC's.Can't get it in hammer tone.So the closets colour I could find was mint green.I know I know I could properly get it in spray cans, but I'm not going to get it that way.It gets to expensive to do them with spray cans.Spray cans are about 75 to 80% thinners. It also doesn't look as good as a job of a spray gun. After all I thought these mowers are not going to mow any lawns anyway. So I'll just make them a show pony.
