I have a Victa which is hard to start now. It was OK until recently when a neighbour had a loan of it & turned it upside down to clean underneath. Now it takes around 20 pulls before it goes. There is a bit of backfire when starting. The spark plug looks OK but I am going to try a new one anyway. What is the gap?
I noticed also that there is a hole in the primer bulb. Is this OK? Petrol seems to seep out when it is being primed. Any advice will be very welcome.

My Victa became hard to start so I replaced the head gasket and got rid of the decompressor assembly. I put an old spark plug in the place of the decompressor to plug the hole. I put a new plug in and gapped it to 0.635 which is what the manual suggested. I've had no problems since.

ps whilst I had the head off I de coked it too.
