Definatly, it could be a number of things with that discription:

1) Some people refered to the later 'VC-Auto Drive', and the 'Auto Drive' as Mustang Auto's, when they are just re-named versions of the VC-160 Auto Drive (This would be a good outcome for you especially)

2)its a late 70's or early 80's Power Plus Self Propelled (a very good mower)

3)it could be a Pro 550 Self Propelled, or something similar, a self propelled model from the Professional range, and it may well have a wide cut, and other good features.

4) I have once heard somone refer to the super 600 and super 24 as 'Mustangs' this is unlikely, as most dont mix these up, but it can happen, and in the mid 70's, the super 24 came in self propelled (this is quite unlikely to be what your friend has.

I cant think of anything self propelled from the 70's or 80's that had the actual 'Mustang' Badge, but i could well be wrong.

Well the first example that you put there is the one that I'm hoping for.He is an excellent source of information with the earlier model mowers, but he doesn't know a lot about these types of mowers. He thought it was a VC,but when he looked at it last night,he wasn't sure that it was.Fingers grossed.

Well the VC-160 Auto Drive spanned a number of years, startin in 72, and running right till 79, it went firstly under the name 'VC-160 Auto Drive' then later 'VC-Auto Drive' and eventually it was dropped down to just 'Auto Drive' though it maintained the same style (With a few colour changes) right throuout that time.

It did have 3 changes to the gearbox the Auto Drive MKI Gear Box, the Auto Drive MKII Gear Box, and the Modified Autodrive MKII Gearbox.

The Modified MKII was also applied to the Power Plus Self Propelled Models

So with him saying he thought it was a mustangs.I guess really it wouldn't be? When he said Mustang I picture the green mustang as an auto drive.I've never seen one like that.So I'm assuming there wouldn't be such a monster?

Oh my lord that is hilarious. Can't stop laughing at that. You should make up a plastic cover and leave it like that.[Censored] that's funny.Do you say that you have a Mark I head? Only asking as I'm currently putting the Mark I engine back together and I don't know whether to put this head back on.I will take some pictures. It's alright and most people would use it.It just has some damage to the fins, and seeing as it is the most visual part of the motor I just want something that looks better. So I guess if you have one on a mower and your not to fussy as to how it looks maybe we could do a swap.I don't know I just put that out there.

Yep, I have a head you can use, I think i mentioned pricing in one of the PM's.

Just a matter of being able to get it to you, I don't think i will be in Canberra this weekend, and I may be away next weekend (Unsure Yet)

But if we can work something out i do have a head here in good nick, also a catcher for the corsair (it will need a little help, but it's complete)

Naturally the last pictures are the engine all back together.I'm not to sure as to how this engine would have ran as the exhaust port all almost completely block off.All clean now.

No I have to do some cleaning and sorting here have to much of a mess here.I've got mowers and parts in about 4 different spots in and out of the house and I need to sort it out.Yes I have an understanding wife about it,but I can tell you if it get's any bigger I will be in the poo.So I'd better do the right thing. That's ok though I'm ready to fire it up yet.It just mean that I won't clean the head that is on it.All good.

Well the plans are the same. You see for most people they would be happy with it and mostly likely just give it a clean. Not me I want it to look like it just rolled out of the front door of Victa. That's why I needed the other as for one the cowl on it is just not good enough to make it look new again.Getting a new front sticker is going to be very hard to do.

Well there was somebody up in Brisbane who use to do them, but they haven't for a while.I believe I have tracked a fellow down that still have some of the fuel mixture sticks left.I have to get in touch with him and see if he has some left. Hopefully he does.If he does would you like me to see if I can get you a sticker.I know he did have some a few weeks ago,but I didn't have a twin then so I didn't need it.
