Hi all just thought I'd share the excitement. As my Victa 500 Twin Cylinder was picked up by the courier today.Looking forward to it's arrival. It's a funny thing I wasn't sure if I wanted one, now it's on it way I'm all excited. Will post up pictures when it arrives.Do have some pictures now but there not great pictures. If you'd like to see them I could put them up.

It was on eBay but it didn't sell for the price he wanted for it.Not saying it wasn't worth it.I mean from the condition I seen it would have been worth $300.I just wanted to get this a little cheaper. The seller was happy and so was I. [Linked Image]

These are the pictures I have, but when she gets here I'll give her a good scrub and see how she looks then. Then I take some pictures and post them up.It' coming from a place called Gunnedah.Which is about 80km's from Tamworth. It's being transported by a courier mob called e-go.Don't know if that's a good or bad thing.I have had dramas with them in the past.I think there part of Hunters express.Don't worry it is insured.I paid $200 for it I guess if she gets here in the two pieces it left in I will be happy.Like I said before wasn't sure if I wanted one,but now I have one on the way I'm quite excited.

Thanks Ty.That would be good.Is it possible to do scans of them and maybe e-mail them as I have nothing on them at all,but it would be good to have that sort of stuff on hand in-case anything goes wrong.I was told it was a working one,but how good I guess I'll see.I take it that you didn't go to Sydney today?I missed out on the VC in Sydney as somebody was picking them up today. Not happy about that especially if it was an auto drive. It would have been good next to the other 2.

Also, one thing to watch out for, the 500 Twin was prone to developing a weak spark on the rear cylinder, if this is the case with yours (the lack of power will make it stand out if so) i have heard there are new coils available, not sure where from though, maybe somone here can point us us in the right direction??

Also, i think you may find the face of that carby has been changed at some point, to my knowledge, the one with the primer was not issued till they released the Supreme, and originally your twin would have had the grey cap with no primer. Personally, what you have is more convenient, however i thought i might mention this as you seem pretty keen on making sure they are original.

Jeffrey, the carby is just an Early LM, I dont beleive it's specific to the Twin, if you need one, it would not be hard to source one of any mower, if one from a twin is not available.

Awesome my twin arrived today.Haven't taken any pictures after the first scrub down.I will do shortly and put them up.[Censored] they are big,sat it next to a victa 18 when I got it out of the box.It dwarfed the poor 18.Certainly will need a clean.Does any body know what the best cleaning product would be to use to clean the cowl?

I have added a picture of the air as it isn't in the greatest condition, and it looks like a more common air cleaner.I would like to get one that is in much better condition so if anybody has one please let me know. Now back to more scrubbing and cleaning.

The filter box itself is standard to that era, right into the early 90's i think, when they put the 'stages' along the control run, the difference is the end cap, the 500 twin originally had the pointy cap on the end, i will put up a pic when i find one.

EDIT:

Here we go, I forgot i took this one, its the correct sticker.

Bugger my doesn't have that at all.I don't suppose you have a similar one you don't need that I can use? As I guess let's face it, it would be very very hard (if not impossible)to find one now.

I don't think i do, however, i will have a look around.

I'm fairly certain it was not just the twin to have the pointy cap, I think i have seen them on others, and they do seem to turn up from time to time.

in the gregorys manual i have it shows the pointy cap for the box type air filter housing, this manual does not cover the twin mower so i would assume that style cap was fitted to several mowers.

i know i had one on an old housing i had laying around, not sure if i still have it. i have to tidy up this weekend for my daughters 5th birthday party next weekend. if i come across it ill put it aside for you otherwise ill sort the shed out the weekend after her party [3 weeks from now], if it turns up ill work out a way of getting it to you, but dont hold your breath im not sure if i still have it

by the way is the fuel gauge cap still in one piece ive got one but its smashed really should throw it out but it makes a good spare.
