Picked up a line trimmer on the weekend, no brand, model etc, just a bunch of warning lables on the shaft, and a lable telling me the mix (And NOT to use No-Lead Fuel) on the tank. i was told it might be a Ryobi, and it uses a choke that i recognise as possibly ryoby, but the only specific mark i can gind is the serial: 207011973

it came with a spare engine, this engine was very similar, almoast identical, and it was branded "Piston Powered Products" Model 99A, its serial is 9085888,and the carby is missing.

I dont have pictures with me right now, but i did find this picture of the spare engine (mine is also Yellow, and the no-name trimmer is green)

Mine is detached, and has no carby/choke section, but its the same model as this, the green one is pretty much the same, and has the exact same air filter/choke & muffler.

Anyone heard of Piston Powered Products, apparently they were/are in Arizona.

If anyone can shed any light, that would be great, particualry brands, carby make & model, and age???

Cheers
Ty

I picked up one of them with it, just been out and had a closer look at them, and my old Ryobi I am working on, the McCulloch has the carby to the side, these two engines and my Ryobi have it in-line with the shaft, don't know if that means anything though. it certainly has similarity's top the McCulloch.

The spare has a no carby, the one without the labels has a walbro WA62 , and the McCulloch has a WA146.

I took a few photo's, should b e able to get them up here tomorrow.

Cheers
Ty

Has anyone heard of Piston Powered Products? are they related to Ryobi? and can anyone tell me who makes the geen one?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help, seems quite a hard lot to identify!

Green one looks like an early Ryobi, have a few of them at work with that same looking engine. They seem to run quite well.
The other engine also looks like a Ryobi though I am not 100% sure.

Cheers

The green one is an early Ryobi Lawn Hornet I think, It is very similar to the one that I bought in 1986. Mine had the split shaft (for attachments) and was a Mark 111 as I remember. They had a Walbro carby, and run on 40:1, 2 stroke mix. It did have a clutch...the one with the curved shaft was the Grass Scorpion I think.
Hoping this helps,
cheers2
