Is about 20 minutes down the road from you, Even if you just kept the two powertorues and sent the rest for scrap metal it would be a great buy.

Hey, if your still looking, i have an alloy powertorque base from a Victa Silver Streak, that i can part with.

I Have family in Mittagong, so I'm up that way every now and then, so i could get it as far as say, campbelltown?

Cheers
Ty

Go to your local scrap yard.

My guy charges $25 for an alloy base mower, doesnt care if its an old Victa 2 stroke or a late model one with a primer start motor.

Not sure how much for a steel base, ive never asked him.

MR Davis

im in campbelltown so that would be great just let me know when you will be up this way

Rodeobob

i think you gotta be pretty quick to pick up anything decent from the scrap yards around here unless you want an old holden engine block they are everywhere

In my experience if you talk $$$$ thats well enough above what its value is as scrap you will have thier attention. Of course if you dont follow through on your end you will loose that attention real quick smart.

Steel base Victa cant go as irony ally so its in with the steel. That would be lucky to be 20c a KG. Whats a mower weigh??

I will put up some photos of the alloy base tonight, and i will check what other bases I can offer, and put them up to, then i will work out when I'm up your way next.

Rodeobob, I wouldn’t imagine a base being over 10kg, and most Victa 2-strokes are just over 30 kg, I do know that if you have damaged alloy bases to get rid of, stripping them down to just the base yourself can up the price you can get for them, often, if you completely strip an alloy base, you can trade it for a whole mower, as it saves them the effort, and puts it straight into the 'clean-alloy' pile.

Mr Davis, cool no dramas

Rodeobob, i know the local scrap yard gives $100 a ton for steel and wont pay anything if you have under a ton

Yeah i had a trailer load of stripped 'clean' bases and engines i took in the other day. $1.20 a KG. Had some flywheels and I/C blocks and some old corroded motor i couldnt be bothered with 36c a KG.

The local yard would be a good spot. Offer up a crisp $20 for a victa with a decent base.

Steel base or alloy. It matters with the catcher. Only the late model ones use the same catcher as the steel base.

Hi Again emmo1980, Sorry for the delay with the pictures.

Its a solid base with no cracks that i have noticed, there is a bit of wear from scraping on the side, and it would love a good clean and maybe some paint. it is a pretty well stripped base (it was originally on the scrap yard list) but i am happy to throw in clips, springs, flaps, catcher or axles if you need them.

It looks like i will be travelling up to Sydney over the coming long weekend, so i would be able to drop it off with you if you like.

Heres the pic's:

If your still interested, just let me know, and I'll bring it up with me.
