hello guys,
Our mower has been broken for a few months, I've been trying to fix it on & off for that long

Came across this OutDoorKing forums only a fortnight ago, brilliant. Wish I had saw it earlier as it identified three separate problems since resolved.
a) Lack of resistance when yanking out the starter cord (large O-ring was worn-out)
b) Fuel filter at fuel tap below fuel tank dirty, since cleared. Likely caused by
me trying to use up old LEADED fuel I found in the shed. (How else can I get
rid of those old lead petrol!?)
c) Diaphragm fitted back wrongly (now turned over, flat side now against diaphragm washer),
along with primer cap / float chamber rotated upstairs down (float assembly not working)
Anyway, the old lead assembly with 2 cut-off (kill) needles needed replacing as the wires were worn-out. Whilst trying to fit them back, I snapped off the top of the longer pin.
A quick search on this forum gave me:
https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=23596 (great! thanks Mr Davis), however I didn't want to hijack that thread by adding my queries & 2 images there....
-------------
Looking up p23 of Victa spare parts manual at the local mower shop, I found that I needed part MA05670A, standard lead assembly, not the keystart version (MA05683A). Ordered it only to find the brown cord much shorter than the old one.
First photo = new MA05670A lead assembly on the left; with old one on right. The old lead assembly's third cable is red-covered and has a set of connector & something (diode?) outside the zone of piston head top. The new lead's brown cord (bottom of the first photo) ends within the underside zone of "ignition coil assembly".
My other photo shows the other cables attached to the Victa mower frame. There's a keystart at top of the handles but we've never used it. No battery at all. Just manual yanking.
2 queries:-
a) Can I still use MA05670A lead assembly and cover up the short (brown) cable's connector? With two cut-off needles inserted at rear of the carby, and leave the lower red cable (2nd photo) from the unused keystart unit unattached (not to the covered up brown short cable?
b) If no, then what is the part number of the correct lead assembly I need?
Thanks,
Andrew
