Hi Gray, Firstly I would check would be the vent hole in the fuel cap itself to see that it is clear, and secondly that the fuel filter in the tank (which is fitted to the fuel tap itself) is clean. If all is well, disconnect the fuel line to the carby turn the fuel tap on to different settings and observe what is occurring.

It sounds as if the carburetor may be flooding. If you turn on the fuel but don't start the engine, does fuel run out of the primer bulb, or into the crankcase? If it does, your float needle is not closing off the seat, probably either because there is dirt in between the two, or (more likely) because you lost the tiny plastic needle when you took the carburetor to pieces and now don't have a needle at all.

Thanks crumpy, yes this mower is making me grumpy.Yeah it did run from primer hole but as i say a small tap on carby and it stopped ,havent check the tank yet but its fairly full of fresh fuel mix, ,but with the motor running set fuel tap full on motor stops fuel on high the mower then stops then i have turn off fuel and crank it until it starts then i turn on fuel about a 1/3 of the way on to keep mower going too much tap or too little and it will stop again

Hi Deejay Check the fuel yeah plenty of fuel at any tap setting, does the needle ever wear out ,looks in good condition, have cleaned the seat with a cotton bud clear and clean i think it must be flooding cause when i try to start mower with a couple of prims on primer it appers to have flood itself ,then it takes a 100 pulls to clear fuel in crankcase it will then start but have to have turned on fuel about a 1/3 as if i have set the amount of fuel entering like a viarable jet know what i mean thanks gray

If you are sure the needle is in place, you may have put it in upside down - it has to go in point first.
To check what is happening, you could remove the main jet, pull out the float bowl cover (held in by the main jet), and see what happens if you turn on the fuel tap and gently lift the float. Fuel should flow when you let the float drop slightly, and stop completely with very light upward pressure on the float. If fuel keeps flowing when you gently lift the float until it stops, you have found the problem: flodding, due to the needle not closing off the aperture in the seat. If that happens, check whether you have put the needle in the right way around (point first).

Does the float have fuel in it???
When you took the fuel line off the carb theres a good chance that you have pulled the seat out a little bit. Its a brass insert into the alloy body. Ive pulled a few out trying to get the hard crusty fuel lines off.
I am not sure how you seat them back to the right spot. I am hoping i am about to learn something.
The image thing you want is the one with the blue arrow pointing up. Hit browse, find the pic, hit the upload PC button, then when it has uploaded (takes a while) then click done. The code will be in your reply box and the picture will appear when you hit Preview or submit.
