Bob just installed the blade carrier bolt and put a socket on a battery drill.

Put it all together today and it ran really well, I was amazed. I mowed the lawn with it and it didn't miss a beat. It just smoked up for the first minute or so I guess it was the oil I put in the bearings.

About the only thing I can comment on is the other stroker I have which is virtually identical, has the choke area of the throttle then idle and gradually up to full revs. The one I have just assembled (has the replacement second hand carby) has the choke area and then the revs just build to full revs, it doesn't really have a low idle. I have popped three of the genuine Victa shims in the carb. The guy I spoke to said these the more shims the lower the idle. Doesn't seem to be the case with this one.

Any ideas?

as to powertorques idling, I have had some that will and some that wont, i have never been too fussed about it to help you with this though. Some I have had have had an extremely low idle while others just slow down a little bit.

its good to see you got it running well, I scored a freebie with the same engine today, got it home put in some fuel and it went first pull.

Hi Joe, if I were to pull these shims out, there is three of them, would it be a certainty that the mower would rev even higher?

I only installed the shims on the recommendations of the fellow who sold me the secondhand carby. He likes his mower to barely turn over at idle so he said throw a few in.

It should not rev harder at full throttle with less shims.

Are you sure the body you got was the same as the body you had.

There are 2 different rotators, one with long fingers and one with shorter ones. Should get them as a pair.
Also mixing up the springs and diaphragms can make a difference.

I actually preffer to start with a full complete carb. Clean it out and if it hasnt been bodged up, its usually all good. Sorta like a matched set.

The other thing is the three legged disc, if it is not loose in the channels it will hang up an hold full throttle.

Cheers, Bob.

Hi Bob. The body he sold me was matched with the rotator. The rest was my old one. The rotator he sold me has long fingers, the damaged body had short fingers. All the parts in my carb were pretty tidy though.

Starts easily and runs well but just doesn't have a low idle between run and choke.

Try it with the metal disc removed from behind the diaphragm.
You can do that on the mower.

If the Diaphragm is a bit stiff, removing the disc lets it flex a bit more.

I probably should say, to put the disc back in if that doesnt fix it, you will need to pull the carb off and hold your thumb on the poppet. You wont have to unhook the stop wires.

Bob.
