Hey guys, I scored this mower last week having some trouble finding any info on it.
Since it's Auzzie made and this is a Auzzie forum thought you might be able to shed some light

Pete, Kirby made the Lauson engine in Australia, initially branded "Kirby Lauson" and later "Tecumseh" (the American conglomerate that owned Lauson). They made 2.5 and 3 hp versions in the early days: the ones with horizontal crankshaft were called HK25 and HK30, while the VK30 was a 3 hp engine with a vertical crankshaft. Because the Lauson was made in Australia and the Briggs and Stratton was not, most Australian lawnmowers with 4 stroke engines had Kirby-Lausons from the late 1960s until the early 1970s. It was not a nice engine to operate in my experience, but they were quite durable mechanically.

I don't recognise the mower frame, but someone else probably will.

Hey Grumoy,
So are parts for them available still in Australia ?
and do you know what the parts go under. Kirby/ Kirby lauson/ or Tecumseh ?

The body, believe it or not is the exact same model 5 as my Iron Horse. Masport

As far as I know, there are no parts available for them except perhaps simple stuff like points and air filters. It's been that way for a long, long time.

so would I Mowerman if my wife was still alive, if you look in the background of pic 2 my other mower is in the laundry.
I dont have a garage, I would love one though to put my tools all away and have a proper workbench.
I think my 20 year old daughter is slowly getting tired of it, cant get into the linen cupboard LMAO

I did that with a motorbike once, had it in the lounge room on an old door. landlord didnt care. Was a bitch getting it up the stairs to the third floor. Getting it down was a breeze. wink

Cheers, Bob.
