Hi All
I have been picking up alot of mowers from the local tip with Briggs engines on them. How do I tell the difference between an American made Briggs and a Chinese made Briggs as I would rather fix up the Amercian made models robbing parts of the Chinese model engines. Look forward to hearing back from you.
Cheers

The Chinese Briggs have ripples on the opposite end to the cylinder head, very easy to notice.

Funny story about a chinese brggs motor I had here that went for scrap last week. Made a youtube vid on australia day after many beers and took the clapped out china motor, pinned the govenor wide open, dumped the silvery looking oil out of it and let er rip. An american sent me a personal message on youtube abusing the hell out of me saying they are not chinese, ra ra ra... and supposedly the ripples are extra cooling fins. To which I found online some details about the chinese manufacturing and sent them to this guy, to which I have never heard from again

Well that was a bit dissapoining. I wanted to see molten metal rain down from the heavens. Suppose you had to be there. lol. I dont think video camera does the RPM's justice.
Might have to give it a go myself. Ive got a Tecumseh here that runs sweet as a nut except for the smoke screen it makes.
Is that the catcher for it behind the green beastie??? Got a catcher that looks ike that here but i cant make it fit anything.
Bob.
