Hi folks,i have 4 vc mowers,as per photos the black one is every day use,the blue one is half restored for my kids to use,the other two wrecks are future restos.my question is how can i tell what chassis belongs to its model name.ie,sunbeam(yellow wheels)i cannot find any part numbers on the chassis, then i could identify the mowers by the victa model listing on this forum...ken

The green deck would be a vc 160,but i need to do more home-work on various models,i have a real soft spot for victa 2 strokes(all my dad would have)i would like to get a few different models to get as close as the original item...ken

the others (apart from green one) look like the "PACE" versions. (i have a blue pace that looks exactly like that, the area for the sticker at the start of the chassis is the giveaway for me).

though im no expert on it...

The green one is definately a Mustang.
Got one and a half here.

The matt black one looks like a slightly newer mustang or it could be a high arch, victa or sunbeam with newer wheels which is probably more likely given the carb on it. The power torque muffler clip is even more strange.
Looking at a picture of my old mustang the wheels are about the only difference, well other than the power torque motor.

The sunbeam i have here has the older wheels like the high arch did. I put the high arch lid on the sunbeam, i sat the original broken one on top for the pic. The ZIP start you have on the blue painted one, which one was that off, looks the same as the one i have here off the sunbeam.

None of the mowers i have here are like that blue one at the front.

I have a VC sports, it looks to be the same base as the green mustang but orange. Had a mkIII series 70 on it.

The one with the fancy yellow wheel centres, the top looks older than the rest of it. The ZIP start built in instead of in under the cover.

Interesting stuff, would be a rare thing to get a mower that has not been messed with.

Thanks for posting the pics Bob, back in 1977 I had a Victa VC Sports, the same as the one in the last pic. Later that year, it had a very sad end!

Mine was a real lemon; no matter how many times repaired, something else would malfunction. I guess most members here could remember the frustration of getting your mowing clobber on, mower from shed, topping up the fuel, and the bloody thing refusing to start...standing there yanking the cord till your arm falls off.... I did my lolly the last time it happened....I went back to the shed, grabbed the nearest thing I could find, which was a Canadian wood splitter, and smashed the bloody thing!! mad

The bloke next door must have watched the whole thing unfold as he remarked; "I wish I had the courage to do that!" lol
The wreck was taken to the tip shortly after.... RIP
(Rest in Pieces) lol
cheers2

Thats sort of why it is sitting where it is like it is.

Was supposed to be a, wind the spring and fit a new cord, its a good runner it will fire right up i swear it will. Nah not quite.
Pulled the carb off the motor, was full of water, cleaned it out put it back together and it does not want to go. Push the primer pin on the carb and it spits fuel at me. The crank bearings grumble and squeak. Job for another day, the cover is good and it came with a good orange catcher so it might be worth fixing.

Bob.
