I recently had my 11-year-old VICTA MUSTANG 18 2-stroke lawnmower serviced. They replaced the whole plastic carb unit, sparkplug, blades, filter, rings. Now it starts up with usually one pull...I'm happy about that. But when I put the lever down to run at full throttle the noise and vibration is so so much louder than before. I have to sometimes run it close to the START position on the controls just because the engine is so loud. I noticed they haven't replaced the muffler on the front cause its all rusty and very hot after using mower. Can anyone help me on this? What has the serviceman done or hasn't done.

Cheers,

Tony

It sounds like the muffler may be worn out, or the engine may be over revving. To Check the muffler you tip the mower on its side and look where the muffler outlet comes out through the slot in the mower base and around the bottom of the muffler. If there is a hole blown there or a series of small holes, the muffler has rusted or burnt out, and needs to be replaced. Or possibly when the Carburettor was replaced the engines governed speed has incresed as a result, and may be over revving. making it vibrate, As these Victa engines can get very loud, rough, noisy and hot when they over rev. Also check that the vacuum hoses heve been connected properly,
Let me know how you go
Regards
Ben

Feebs,
I would suggest that you take the machine back to the person that has repaired it because they should at least give you a minium of three month warranty on the repair.

If the machine is reving out high it sounds like an air leak and this could be caused if they have not replaced all the 'O' rings especially the starter one.

As to the carby that they replaced it might have the incorrect jet in it causing the mower to run lean and it getting hotter than normal.

Once again the best suggestion is to return the machine to where you had it repaired, get them to correct the problem and if they are any good at what they do they should be able to correct it.

Bruce
