victa mower (af 055a-6) (crafstman ?) I was operating it on low throttle instead of on full throttle ( was advised that this will give more torque) and i probably worked it too hard on some tough grass, the mower suddenly reved fast and stopped. spark is ok (spark pulg 2 days old but with a lot of soot), removed spark plug and squirted fuel in and replaced sprk plug and still unable to start, removed fuel tube to carby and steady flow of fuel. tried a week later. ( in case flooded) still no go. Had the mower for 6 years and no problems and use to operate on full throtle until recently.

Roger, I would suggest that you replace the spark plug as I asume that you used a Champion one.
Try to get either a NGK plug or Bosch.

sounds like a fuel flow prob. unscrew main jet and clean it with fresh petrol, then blow it out with compressed air. if still no go. replace main jet. while you're doing this, you should check the float and needle to make sure needle is not sticking which would restrict fuel flow. if it is replace needle as well. (both parts are cheap to buy) re-install needle correct way up and don't overtighten the main jet when screwing it in.
