I'm new to all this & all I want is to know how the two wires go that attach to the carby on a Victa corvette.

On the back of the carby next to where the air snorkel attaches there is a little hole, the longer of the two wires goes i nthe middle and the short one goes in the small hole that goes horizontally accross the other, however there shouuld be a little rubber sock and a rubber boot there as well.

Thank you, does the second one need to come into contact with the first?

They only touch together when you pull the throttle all the way back as in to stop the engine...ken

where can I find the rubber socket and boot, as mine appear to be faulty, both wires tend to be touching preventing mower to start.(if this is correct, can someone confirm) if i pulled them out and tapped them would my engine still start?

in the online shop here or at your local mower shop should only be a few dollars. Cheers Joe.

The two wires that go into the carburetor are the kill-switch: when those wires touch each other, the ignition is short-circuited and the engine stops. Unless there is some other ignition fault, if you pull both wires out and separate them, there should be spark at the spark plug when you pull the start rope. The socket and boot are the rubber parts that are pushed into the carburetor, to hold the two wires the correct distance apart so that they only touch when you put the speed control in the "Stop" position.

You can block the hole in the carb and do whatever with the wires if you want to.

A decent switch will cost you 5 times what the rubber bits cost.

Once you know how the wires work its not that hard. I thought there was a video on Youtube about it.

Bob.
