Well, I finally found time to start restoration on the twin (Victa). After stripping it down, I found lots of scoring (front cylinder) and a broken ring. The main bearings are a bit rough as well. As I see it, I need the bearings and a set of rings. Anyone know ehere I can get them? Also, how do I remove the ingintion cam so I can remove the bearing? Regards, Jeff.

Originally posted by stephen hamnett: Hi Joe, The Twin is back together and running on a coil from a single! It starts and runs fairly easilly, but the power is not there, I reckon the spark is only going to one or other of the plugs, it finds the path of least resistance and jumps that spark. This was proved by taking one HT lead off while running, the lead would short against the chasis, but taking it off the plug resulted in no change to the engine speed/note at all. So still looking for a working twin coil. Hope the move went well, hope youv'e got a decent lawn, probably drier than Brum! Hi Stephen, Banta small engine parts and accesories in Canada have new coils for the twin. Part no 440-229. Description, brown atom ignition. The price quoted on website is $19.64. Just search for Bantasaw.com Hope this helps you out. Ches.

Hi All,
Fantastic discussions on this forum, I have been searching every where for information on these twin cylinder beasts, everone I talk to has been telling me to stay clear of them. Anyway, I have one of these and it was functioning perfectly till a month or so ago. It was running at max revs/throttle and then it was shut down to the off position. Ever since that the mower's starting and running has been very erratic. I replaced the condensor on it and it seemed to behave for a while but now it still refuses to start and run. When it is cold it will attempt to fire but it sounds like it is running on one cylinder.
Can anyone help me ? When it does run it is so smooth, it is a fantastic machine I really want to get it running again as it is in excellent condition. Any help or detailed information would be appreciated.
Thanks Romesh

Romesh Why didn't you replace the points as well because they could be pitted. I would suggest that you replace both points & condenser. Also check fuel flow to the carby as the fuel filter could be blocked or even the main jet in the carby. Regards, Bruce ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/board/biggrin.gif)

Hi Bruce,
Thanks for the quick reply. I didn't end up replacing the points initially as I was not able to find parts easily. I will replace the points and the condensor with the proper version if I can get them. Are the points and the correct condensors still available for these machines ? Do you know of a good place for parts in Melbourne ? Also I dismantled the carby last night and found a fair bit of dirt on the dry side of the diaphram. I will clean it up and put it back together over the weekend, however the rubber plug that covers the cut of switch is perished, is there replacements of these part available ?
Thanks again for your help.
Romesh
